Has anybody else had their car hit by a golf ball when driving down Texas? Happened to me yesterday a little after 6:30. Wondering if it's a thing that happens or if somebody did a particularly horrendous shot.

I presume while driving past the golf course? I'm not a good golfer by any means, so I usually play a safer club and aim towards the inside of the fairway while playing those holes. I've seen more than a handful of golf balls in the new City Hall lawn.
More likely to get hit on George Bush, if you got hit on Texas, that was a terrible shot, or potentially intentional by someone trying to hit over TX ave or something.
I see golf balls flying across George Bush Drive all the time. Back in the 90's, I tee'd off on the old #3, and a guy passed by on a motorcycle. Well being the terrible golfer that I am, my shot produced a ball flight that resembled a low flying missle that went out into to right lane, got right behind the motorcyclists back, and then curved back to the right, and landed just across the cart path, toward the fairway.
That guy had no idea that he was almost taken out by a Titleist.

As far as answering your questions, yes and yes.
Happened to my wife about 6 months ago. She confronted the golfers and they laughed her off. I drove up to the course and spoke with the pro. Pro said most players will admit they did it and pay. He and I got in a cart and went and found the player. He would not own up to it. Pro said he was sure it was the guy but nothing we could do. I just told the guy he was a sorry mf and the guy just walked away. Cost me $600.

It's the golfer's responsibility. Some courses will even put a sign out.

And some dump trucks would also have you believe they're not responsible for your windshield.
Not sure where the law lays on golf but the course saying it doesn't prove it.
In Texas the golfer is responsible for their ball.
A buddy in high school put a ball onto the Chili's roof.

I've hit one in the street in Austin, Bryan, and College Station. If you're driving by a Muni, expect it. It goes with the territory.
The last time I played the campus course I pulled one so bad on the 11th or 12th hole and watched it skip across Texas and miss three cars and it ended up by the entrance of Chili's.Esteban du Plantier said:

On another note, if you hit Tx Ave from anywhere on Campus Course you need to give up golf!!
I hit the longest drive of my life on that hole. I made really great contact, but pulled it. Last I saw the ball, it was taking a left on Wellborn. No vehicles were hit.DonHenley said:

I did get a car on Jersey way back in the day. Again, pulled the shot, it hit the front bumper of a late 70s beater. No damage done.

Asa kid, I bounced one off the side of Mosher Hall while teeing off on the old #10 at A&M. I was REAL bad.
