My wife and I are doing the same. We have ordered some and made our own. I have read that Taco Casa uses lard, but I'm not 100% on that.

There's lard and there is lard. If it's processed in the manner of Crisco, you don't want it. If it's rendered fresh (like friends of mine who hunt feral hogs do), it's sublime.

I love how nutrition is always a cycle of meme diets. Used to be that oil was considered healthier than saturated fats.

OK, so for yall who make your own tortillas and use lard, where are you getting it from? I have read this stuff:

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Armour-Lard-4-Lb/834175473?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&selectedOfferId=CCABC76CA41D44A08F853F893AF92E1D&conditionGroupCode=1&wl13=7357&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=22222222277834175473_178028002215_22422994460&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=697173827980&wl4=pla-2348450966064&wl5=9197960&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=834175473&veh=sem_LIA&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADmfBIoPlHX8naqvgOL97yDq2A1LI&gclid=CjwKCAjwwqfABhBcEiwAZJjC3qsyGZA4FcFdel9CEULWAVHwLQF9dUuFBgStykfdNh8TwkCJz3V3RxoCF_YQAvD_BwE

is not good for you because it contains "hydrogenated lard" which is basically no better than seed oil.

Go to pretty much any carneceria or super mercado. At or near the meat counter, you'll find a stack of clear quart tubs of freshly rendered lard. That's the stuff you want to use, not the stuff in the green and white box you find with the bottled oil.

You've got time immemorial vs about 1 century, not exactly a cycle. that's one turn buddy, and you're being fed industrial oils.

if it's any help to anyone on here, once i dropped seed oils my skin cleared up and i have not gotten sick once. it's been about 18 months. I am absolutely shredded too.

I've also heard that marfa uses butter and olive oil, which is great. They fry in soybean oil.

Goes without saying but stella leads the pack with all tallow. Sad to see harvey's go...
