West realigning was abandoned long before CoCS shot down Lo-track.

I seem to recall someone mentioning that FM 2818 was built was a wider ROW than usual so it could accommodate rerouting of the tracks. I read some article in the microfilms back when that was the only way I could read archives that one of the complainers of rerouting was Producers Co-op, which is now the only rail spur access site until the fertilizer facility on Millican.

I'm pretty sure that they discussed it in the 1990s, finally abandoning it after investing in the grade separation projects of the 2000s. But, if we were talking about George Bush specifically, I feel that's more of a problem of connectivity issues posed by the university than anything else, the train just exacerbates that.

You are correct, the relocation of the tracks to the west was discussed publicly after Lo-Track failed. I went to several of those MPO public meetings at the Brazos Center, they were well attended. I and many others were in favor. The Italian farmers in the Brazos bottom fought it tooth and nail, there may have been a few other informal groups opposing it as well. It received a lot of public input and despite my personal disappointment I thought the process was thorough and fair.
