We are looking for a wedding venue for the week between Christmas and New Year's, probably Monday the 29th or Tuesday the 30th. Must have an indoor chapel and reception space. Looking at around 125 guests. I'd love recommendations from the all-knowing Aggieland board.

Thanks!

I knew that. We did have a family wedding there years ago (at your place). Not sure if 7f chapel counts as indoors?

I've done stuff at The Weinberg and Wind Dancer. I believe Wind Dancer could fit that many in the indoor chapel. Not sure about Weinberg.

There are a handful more north/northeast of Bryan into Robertson county.

My sons was at brownstone reserve, but they did outside.
Always drive by the gin at hidalgo falls and wonder what its like but they have been expanding so might fit. But only if they fix the road.

Went to one a few weeks ago in Anderson. Camp Hosea. Nice chapel and reception place. Big bar both inside and outside.

Camp Hosea is incredible and owned by some very nice folks! Great scenic drive to and from as well.

You can walk to it. Careful climbing the fence.

Peach Creek Ranch. GORGEOUS venue. Great Aggie owners. They are good friends and neighbors.

FYI, should you need an Airbnb, mine is 200 yards away as a crow flies.

Have attended way too many events at local venues. The Weinberg is the high end champ for sure. Camp Hosea is really nice and probably well below the Weinberg. I hear both host 80+ events a year. Most others aren't even close. I was really impressed with Hosea. It looks great and is very efficient but has a ton of features that a smart person could put in a venue. I'd check it out if my budget was south of a Weinberg/Miramont/Traditions for sure.

We were very happy with the Gin at Hidalgo Falls a few years ago.

Amish barn would be a nice private rural location. Wineberg is very nice. The Cotton Silo down by the Moore Farm is very nice. There is a nice place west of Caldwell just after you make the turn to go to Lexington.

Sargentos Mexican Restaurant in Franklin has leased a nice large venue off of 2818 in NW Bryan for their event and to lease out.. rural and close in. You can use them for catering or use your own caterer.

There's about 10 more withn about 30 miles of BCS.

Thanks for all the suggestions! There are an overwhelming number of venues nearby but few seem to have an indoor chapel so I was mainly hoping for suggestions for places that did so did so we could narrow it down.

My place is a bit nicer. But, just a bit....

That is such an odd place. Could be something pretty cool in the right hands. Always fun to drive by and see what branch of law enforcement is visiting that day.

Law enforcement is familiar with that location.

The sign is pretty though.

Been to events at Camp Hosea and Deep in the Heart Farms.

I think both would accommodate what you are looking for.

Deep in the Heart has an indoor chapel. Link above.

Brownstone Reserve in Kurten has an indoor facility that can be used as a chapel. But it can also be used for dining it's not a dedicated space with pews and such.

Seriously not trying to be a jerk. Genuinely curious. Why don't folks get married in churches anymore?

We did a few years ago but then had the reception at one of the venues mentioned in here.

I think it's due to social media creating a wedding "industry". Everyone wants to get the most likes, so they want the biggest, fanciest venue, best food and drinks, music, photography, etc.

My wife and I agree that we wish we had scaled in down and instead just thrown some of that money in the market.

Reception area nearby and photo ops prolly has a lot to do with it.

I know it varies, but what are some ballpark venue rental prices?

Second this one. Just went to a wedding and it was a nice venue. Granted it was April, things were green and it was still comfortable outside in the evening. Winter could be a dice roll but they had lots of room inside.

We charged $3000 for friday-sunday...ish... most places charged double that for just a saturday. I sometimes even threw in the photography...

Catholic marriages are only really recognized in the church if they take place in a Catholic church with a Catholic priest or Deacon officiating (with very few exceptions that must be approved by the diocese bishop- like structural damage to the church you booked). It has to do with the solemnity of the Sacrament of marriage.

Without this ending up on F16, I think kids don't get married in churches because they don't want to offend their friends. Back in the day, nobody cared. I've been to weddings of every religion and ethnicity. It's the political climate causing kids to opt out of the church.
As for Catholic matrimony, I know a Aggie couple that got married outside of the church not too long ago. They had a child and this child was baptized in a Catholic church. I don't know the specifics of how that happened but I know they attend mass regularly now. I doubt the Catholic church bent rules (especially the one they go to as I know fada pretty well) so probably had a separate meeting/ceremony with padre before/after the ceremony. I don't know that for certain though.

We have some friends that have done small private ceremonies with a priest in church before hand, and then throw a celebration/vow renewal after at a venue (but that isn't the wedding in the eyes of the church).

There will always be some people who do what they want, and still go to church and/or communion, but it doesn't mean their wedding at a venue was a Catholic wedding. Catholic weddings are in Catholic churches unless there are extenuating circumstances that the bishop signs off on.

If their wedding wasn't recognized by the church, they may have had it convalidated (there are a lot of reverts out there that have to go through that process.) That also wouldn't prevent them from having their child baptized in the church- they just have to promise to raise their child Catholic (as do the Catholic godparents).

Okay- I'm done. No more derailing on this. I just hate seeing misinformation about the Catholic Church.

Personally, I think more people should take Mike Leach's advice on weddings and marriage.

This was a joke just fyi

I dont necessarily think it is about social media as much as convenience

Everybody comes to one spot

The chapel
Walk to the reception area Where most of the ones have alcohol now days

And then they get to dance to a Dj of their choosing and play the music they like

Just can get that in a church situation anymore

Also. I wonder how much a church is these days for a wedding
