What? You don't like seeing literally no work done for 6 months on one of 3 E/W corridors across Bryan?

In the immortal words of our 46th President, "Come on, man!"

Now imagine being Larry Young Paving. They aren't getting paid right now either.

What you meant to say is "whenever Optimum decides to get around to it".

That's 100% user error and 0% design flaw.

I bet that guy was doing 80 as he passed the other car. I'll also bet he had no clue there was a traffic circle coming up.

Only people who will be happy when it's finished are street racers. Seems like it was designed for them

You think the average contractor going 70 mph with 12 lawnmowers in the back knows any different?

Are you saying contractors can't/don't read/pay attention to street signs. There is no way there wasn't an indication of an upcoming traffic circle.

WJB is going to be the absolute worst when it is done. The lanes are skinny so good luck being next to an 18-wheeler, like a gravel truck or something. And the roundabout areas are some of the worst I've seen.

For a city and traffic design group (TXDOT) enamored with turning circles, this would have been the place to put one. It makes way more sense than the forced U-turn they have created at the light.

I don't think anybody pulling a flatbed full of lawnmowers reads any sign. WJB roundabout will be a serious accident within a couple years. Just a horrible spot because of the crazy traffic. Reminds me of the road close to Windsor/Mopac in Austin. There's a turnaround that has a house right next to/under it. It's been hit several times. It's inevitable.

It's horrible now. At least in the morning drivers seem to have the courtesy and common sense to get in the correct lane before going through the light. I've seen quite a few near collisions in the afternoon.

And now you have the same thing going east with the lane closure right past CVS.

Love that TXDOT and City used taxpayer money to create a choke point and restrict traffic flow to an area the City used taxpayer money to try and rebuild. What great stewards of our money they all are.

Now let's steal….err I mean build an East Loop!
We'll win this war, but we'll win it only by fighting and by showing the Germans that we've got more guts than they have, or ever will have. We're not going to just shoot the sons-of-b******, were going to rip out their living G*******d guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. We're going to murder those lousy Hun c********** by the bushel-f****** basket. War is a bloody killing business. You've got to spill their blood or they will spill yours. Rip them up the belly. Shot them in the guts.

Like all the roads under construction or that have been under construction the last few years, it's just another boondoggle.

Bryan mayor like always was on the radio last week, blaming everyone else. The next time that guy takes responsibility for anything even remotely considered negative that has to do with the city will be the first. Last year he said the medians were TXDOT's fault although City of Bryan was a partner in the project and it couldn't have happened without their approval. Now on the WJB project, the mayor is blaming Optimum and saying they are the cause of the delay. Apparently Optimum was asked about it and they are waiting for permits from City of Bryan to continue to move the lines and have been waiting for awhile.

My guess is City of Bryan is in a pissing match with Optimum and both sides are just blaming each other, all the while we're stuck with a half finished road for the foreseeable future.

As was also said, the design is laughably bad on that roundabout. Roundabouts are fine in the right places and designed to the right sizes. These little baby roundabouts they are putting in Bryan (WJB and Palasota) don't work. They aren't large enough to let vehicles with trailers utilize them without jumping the inner curb and they don't have enough room for cars to space out enough to allow the proper flow. They need to be the size of the roundabout on LaSalle street in Waco near I-35. That one is large enough to allow it to work like it should. Whoever approved the design on these two shouldn't be in that line of work.

The sad thing is, common sense should have told all involved these wouldn't work as designed and wouldn't be popular at all. Same thing on the medians. Outside of the mayor and TXDOT, I haven't heard one person say they prefer the medians vs the turning lanes we had before.

Yep. Destination Bryan...but we're going to make it really suck trying to get there.

It's not the destination, it's the journey.
