Don't HOA's take care of this? Wonder who will monitor? I know several people in my neighborhood who have gotten fined. LOL

Bulk brush and tree limbs should be put out as created. I do agree with the city owned trash bins, Often, in driving around I see them out three to five days a week and often empty but tipped over in the street's edge. A couple of times there were cans in the street that drivers had to veer around and I stopped and moved the bins off the street.

Each situation is different, but there is no reason to leave the bins out on the street for days and days. If you are going on vacation, ask a neighbor to move your bin off the street to your front porch,

Rules for thee, not for me.

Anything owned by the COCS looked like hammered poop. They don't maintain their stuff at all.

If they enforce this, we'll all be rich off the money they make in the Southside district.

CS is basically one big HOA and its council is the kind of people that want to be on the HOA board. So, this is not surprising at all.

It's really not that hard to bring them in on time. This change from a court summons to a $25 fee will save the city/legal system some administrative costs.

And the time limit was changed from 12 hours to 24 hours because one on the council, David White, said he had been in violation when out of town and wanted the limit increased.

12 hours was effectively noon the next day, so a bit longer than 12 hours in reality. Add on the time for it to be noticed, reported, and a code enforcement officer to come out and it was way longer than 12 hours.

I like this.
If the city can make money off of people being lazy, I don't see a problem.

Like someone else said, they usually end up tumped over in the road.

How about the money from the fines from 2025 directly reduces the billed sanitation costs for 2026?

If they want to be strict about when people bring their cans in, they need to be a lot more specific about when they pick up. I've seen pickup between 8:00 am and 5:45 pm in my neighborhood over the past couple years. When the lady died under the truck, they said they were going to stagger a day later, made an announcement on KBTX. They picked up my neighborhood on the normal day at almost 7 pm… So, about half of the houses in our neighborhood didn't get their trash picked up that week because they listened to what the city said via Rusty Surette.

Their communication is for crap. They need to do what they say they'll do and communicate. That doesn't seem to be their strong suit.

This is just a bunch of hand-wringing that has filtered up through the local PAC. The same folks that brought you "no more than X unrelated people", overlays.

Everything is not because of them.

That is coming from someone that is not a fan.

Maybe I'm missing something. What exactly looks like "hammered poop". The City vehicles I see all the time look to be in nice condition. The facilities as well. I've definitely seen much, MUCH worse across the state and country.

Anyone heard if this has taken effect yet? Just says in the fall.

Call me a Kevin, but if I see my neighbors trash can at the curb for more than a couple of days, I wheel back up their driveways. I may stop this since people tend to shoot first and ask questions later.

So now the city hires a trash can monitor? Gotta pay for them somehow.

Going to court over leaving your trash can out is the funniest thing I have seen in a long time.

They could just pick it up, send you to a centralized location, to pay the fine, and get your can back. That would end the problem pretty quick.

I call it the tow truck method.

That's why they're going to a fine instead of a court summons.

One day, two days, I don't really care what the # of days before you have to take it off the roadway, but I am glad there are rules that are enforced as if there weren't any, every street in town would have oneto two cans in front of many of the dwellings 24 hrs/day, 365 days a week.

Trash cans? Pfffft.
When are they going to do something about all the cars lined up on neighborhood streets? Charge them parking fees.
Put your vehicles in the garage or your driveway.

They'll argue that their rental house garage and driveway won't fit their truck.
