Anyone happen to know someone connected to the PI KAPPA PHI fraternity, for their place on FM60, just west of CS?
For the second year, they all leave, the flags are in HORRIBLE condition, the TAMU office for fraternities and sororities said likely nothing done till return for fall semester.
Disgusting, but easily corrected.

Not that those flags have anything to do with the following, it just reminded of the story.

I have a 35ft flag pole in my front yard and have a US/TX/ATM flag hanging at all times. Several years back I received an anonymous letter dropped in my mail slot from a neighbor dressing me down because my US flag was a bit shredded and felt I was being disrespectful to the flag.

anonymous is such a ***** way out and 2nd, in general, if you dont have a clue about the subject matter, stay the hell out of offering your opinion.

The flag was a bit faded and tattered yes it was. The story behind the flag is why it was flying. It actually flew over in desert storm and was given to me from a soldier that suffered life altering injuries while ins Bagdad. He gave it to me as a memory sake of him. I met him through my affiliation with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and my involvement with the Armed Forces Appreciation Committee. I flew that flag until his passing some 13 months later.

In trying to identify the sender of the anonymous letter, knowing it was a neighbor, I went door to door from one end of my street to the other asking if that particular neighbor sent the letter with no one admitting such.

I then simjply put a sign to my ribs disliking, in the front yard stating " To whom the shredded US flag bothers, you are invited to a story telling and beverage of your choice, if you care to know the story." I got two neighbors knock on my door to inquire both of whom claimed they did not send the letter. Both were also Vets of Vietnam.

They both approved of my flying the tattered flag. It is now preserved is safe keeping and will be with me until I am gone from this earth.

Nobody took you up on your offer of "come say it to my face"?

Shocking.

Far from similar conditions, I had a neighbor choose to do the same to me and send an anonymous letter regarding my flag. I was able to find the person that sent the letter. This person hasn't flown a flag a single day in my six years in the neighborhood.

Glad to hear this was resolved. Face to face in a respectful manner is always the best policy.

Same here a few years ago, except the guy actually stopped, got out and started yelling at me bc the flag was slightly torn on the edges, and I mean slightly! Said he was going to the police dept. I waved bye and wished him well. I did not replace the flag until it was tattered beyond saving.

If you need a quality flag that will last for quite some time check out Kronbergs Flags in Houston.
