Hadn't thought about the volume of trips generated by the apartment complex and westbound 2818 entry onto waxwing, and that is a compelling argument.

I think the mobility argument is that while improving access to Jones Crossing, the introduction of the signaled intersection at waxwing will greatly hamper movement along 2818. That stretch between welsh and Holleman is one of the last uninterrupted stretches of 2818 between Texas, Welborn, and 47 and quickly gets you from east side of town to west and vice-versa. East west mobility in this town is already an issue, and this intersection would only exacerbate it when already too close to the ramp and welsh. I also think the signal would make the interchange with the eastbound on ramp from Welborn only more dangerous with people attempting to weave around traffic trying to enter jones crossing while trying to beat a light. A westbound turn lane into jones crossing is not a bad idea though. If a light is landed on, then I think an additional northbound lane would be needed for waxwing, one left and straight, the other right only, but the TIA would speak on that the best.

That volume of residents leaving a large apartment complex would be better routed to Balcones, either west to Welborn, or east to welsh and then west on 2818. Eastbound 2818 could still take the waxwing exit, but it likely needs some improvements there too.

I'm curious if the super street concept could be extended to this intersection. Might be ideal, and might be what TxDOT would try to strong-arm all parties into.

What about widening Harvey Rd East between 6 and 30? This seems long overdue.

The upside of a light is ease of access. The downside of a light is hindering flow on an existing (and expensive) roadway. There was just a massive 2818 project to reduce several 4-way intersections to 2-way or 3-way, forcing right hand turns and U turns to do it. Which intersection design along that route would work here? Luther?

LATEST: Widening of Harvey east of the bypass is on the MPO's MTP list, and the first public hearing is coming up soon. It is being considered for a bond listing. Even still, the project will likely not commence for several years.

Rudder seats 2500. Why don't we start there and see if it can be consistently filled for concerts?

Oh, wait. The city doesn't get a piece of that.

Harvey between hwy 6 and 30 should have been widened years ago, but this is the way it seems many of the roads around are expanded. Lets not be proactive, lets react after it is already a problem. Same for the state and Hwy 6. Widening to three lanes is reactive, proactive on 6 would be going ahead and making it four lanes.

That was a failure of governments to coordinate their activity relative to roadway construction- if I'm thinking of the right area. City and county. Those people were horribly inconvenienced for longer than necessary as a result. Eloquent testimony to the importance of intergovernmental cooperation. A keen area of focus for me.

Speaking of Fitch between RP and 30 - beautiful weather, everything ready to continue surfacing with asphalt- and not a construction vehicle or worker in sight ! Like all the vehicles - gone. What's up with getting this finished ? It's very dangerous with narrow construction lanes and lots of garbage trucks ……

Any word on WD Fitch ? Only thing left is 2 PortAPotties and a bunch of cones and barrels. It's like the construction company left in a hurry ……

I think Brazos Paving has done an excellent job. They had the street sweeper machine out there late Friday.

Doesn't change the fact that they did little to no work last week on it. I agree what's been done looks good.

Another beautiful day and not a person or a machine on-site. I'm not even sure if the port-a-potties are still there.

Did they go bankrupt mid-project?
