Does anyone know what is about to be built on the tract of land that is just south of the U-Haul place on Texas Ave. across from the College Station Walmart?

Guess we need more? Our RV storage lot is converting to a climate-controlled storage facility and all RVs must be out by 10/23. It's a huge concrete lot with everyone paying $145-$300 per month.

Hopefully they expand the south CS facility and sell the parcel at University/Texas.

This. Has to be one of the most valuable pieces of real estate in BCS.

I rented a truck from that location back in 1975. I think.

The City of College Station needs to jump on that.

Move the one off Texas and University. That's prime location for a high rise.

I'd say looking at what's on Texas on the NE corner and SE corner going N and S for a thousand feet or so each way that your assumption isn't correct.

I had a truck reserved at the one by Fuego a few weeks back. Went to get it and they didn't have it. We discussed options. I offered a few solutions.

They offered solutions that would cost me much more money and time even though I already had a reservation.

It was the Seinfeld rental car scene. I wanted to say "give me the optional insurance because I'm going to beat the hell out of that thing."

I left and called the location across from Wal-Mart. They solved my problem in ten seconds.

The employees at the one by Fuego were as helpful as the mammaries on a boar hog.

Bulldoze that place to the ground and sell it to someone else. Don't care.

If you think they're bad, stay away from the one by Sam's.

But the "I had a reservation, but the truck's not here" experience isn't limited to that one location. I had the same experience when I left Fort Bragg, NC, back in 2011. Had a reservation for a trailer, place where I had the reservation didn't have it, neither did any other place in Fayetteville. I ended up having to drive like 25 miles to get a trailer. Peak moving season near military bases is a mess.

More U haul storage will only be a slight upgrade over the beater house with the words I Love You spray painted on its side! Always made me chuckle while that was there.

Just store the stuff in the house!

Win-win!

Just curious... what's the appetite for a simple crushed gravel, secured fence/access gated, well-lit option with cameras for jackassery? Seems like this could be done and if one could gather enough interest to keep 200-300 units annually that would kick off some good cash flow.

Agree. Many local places are (1) covered concreted areas, or (2) dirt fields. Something in between could be successful, if secure and in the right location.

That last part is the tricky one. Location.

Yep. Friend's son has a place out in Millican. Crushed gravel, gated, cameras, controlled access. And empty because of location.
