I notice the last line of the article says " If there is not enough power, the project will not be done." Here's hoping there's not enough power (and that they decide that before depriving citizens of any power).
I am not familiar with most of the places on that map, but I did recognize the streetname "Carroll Fancher Way" as the street where The Langford (retirement community) is located.
Has anyone shared this info with The Langford staff/administration, any of the residents, and/or their children? Those old people are going to be pissed if something so loud is built that close to them.
The city needs to turn this down. It sounds terrible in general, and the fact that they can't even find out details until after signing a contract is just a huge red flag.
If anyone knows someone at The Langford or any of their family members, let them know. I bet some of them would make a big fuss.
Having this as the last item on the agenda is pretty evil though. Some city council meetings go really long and expecting people to wait around that long to speak up about this is very inconsiderate and seems designed to discourage citizens from speaking out, especially because I think you have to be there at the very beginning to sign up to speak. You can't reasonably expect people to wait around for hours.
