I have a prescription for my glasses, Where is the best and quickest place to go to get the lenses made and buy frames?

I have had good experiences at Eyemart Express. It's next to Los Cucos on Texas Ave.

Tons of places. "Best" is very subjective in this sense.

I got mine at Lenscrafters in the mall. Best use of my vision benefits and good quality eyeglasses.

I bought a backup pair from https://www.eyebuydirect.com/ a couple of years ago, and I will be buying all of my glasses from there in the future. Depending on what options you get, you can get a very inexpensive pair, or you can get upscale if you want.

Agreed, pretty much every feature you could possibly want is included in the price. I've always found enough options to fit my needs, heck sometimes it's difficult to. Pricing is awesome, quick turn around on the order, etc. We've been buying our glasses there for years.

I've bought at least 20 pairs from them over the years. You can get 2-3 pairs for what it costs from a retail store. They normally last about a year before scratches and some yellowing are noticable, sometimes longer. It depends on how rough I am on them. Only one pair has broken on me (I wear half frames) and it was a pair I already had in a drawer over a year. The line just broke and the lense fell out. First time over at least 10 pairs of the same frame.

I like Vision Works in the mall. I have shopped there since the 1990s (although, the company used to have a different name)

I've used Sam's optical the last few times, with frames I really like that I've gotten online and used over and over for the last few years. It costs next to nothing with Texas A&M insurance and the quality has been good. That said, I am starting to have trouble with computer distance and am going to be talking to the eye doctor about how to address that with my progressive lenses next time I go. Sam's may not be able to accommodate...

Do you need a membership to use either Sam's or Costco optical services?

I thought you could use Costco pharmacy and optical without a membership, but yeah, I don't know how you get in now that they check for membership at the door.

You can get an eye exam but not purchase glasses or contacts. You just tell the person at the door that you need to pick up prescriptions or have an appt with the optometrist. They'll remind you that you will not be allowed to purchase anything else.

Do you actually see a doctor? I made an appt and then canceled when I got an email about my virtual appt.

Don't they still want you to scan your Costco card before your purchase?

Depends on location. I have no idea if our local Costco has one in house.

Yes, they do. That doesn't apply to the pharmacy because of federal law. They remind you so that you don't load up a cart that they have to put back later.
