Bad wreck on HWY 30 and Hardy Weedon. 30 is closed going into town… police everywhere doing traffic control… avoid the area. Prayers for all involved.

I have been told there is a signal going in there this winter. Needs to be NOW.

It was bad. EMS was giving one person CPR as they loaded him in the ambulance, and the ambulance didn't go anywhere for a while.

There's like 10 business driveways in way too short of a distance. Tons of traffic in and out of Powersports specifically at 5pm. Then two new developments down Hardy Weedon. I'm shocked there isn't an accident there weekly.

I did see earlier that Brazos Paving is already under contract to rework about a half mile through there, including a traffic light at Hardy Weedon. Scheduled to start "early October". It's a shame it wasn't sooner and could have prevented today's accident.

Preliminary investigation determined a 2005 F-150 was eastbound in the 10700 block of SH 30 when it struck the rear of a 2024 Nissan Armada.

The F-150 continued to travel eastbound losing control and traveling into the westbound lanes of SH 30 where it collided with a 2014 Infiniti SUV.

The driver of the F-150 was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Infiniti was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Occupants of the Armada were not injured.

While a light is needed in that area, sounds like it wouldn't have prevented this accident.

No, I guess not. I incorrectly assumed the F150 pulled out of Harvey Weedon and got T-boned by the Infinity, because the passenger side of the F150 was cratered. Interesting observation that both SUVs involved were the same vehicle, as those aren't especially common.

One thing I learned is that that area is, weirdly, within the Bryan city limits.

Yep. The church has a College Station address but part of the land is in Bryan. Same with the road.

Which law enforcement responds to wrecks is determined by which lanes on 30 are involved and where a wreck started.

A light at Hardy is not the solution everyone thinks it will be. As stated above, too many businesses needing to come in and out, especially PowerSports. Hardy does not line up with any of them for a traffic light to be effective.

As much as I hate to say it, because we live down Hardy, but the answer is a divided highway.

It amazes me how many people are willing to risk their children's lives pulling out of Powersports. Take a right, and turn into the church to turn around at the least. My mom won't even turn on Hardy, she uses Elmo to get to our house.

I agree. The ISP driveway next to Powersports would be in or right at the proposed intersection and sees quite a bit of truck traffic.

Does anyone know where to find the plans? The work is under contract already and scheduled to start this month.

It'd be nice if they moved the driveway so it lined up with Hardy Weedon to take advantage of the light.

Would cost, but connecting all those businesses and having a protected left turn would be beneficial.

I agree that the simplest solution would be to tie in the driveways of the businesses to come out at Hardy and the new light. The problem is that some of these businesses have big trucks coming in and out.

Also, a light at Hardy is going to make it even harder for Powersports to go westbound. The light will back up and folks will just pull into the turn lane like they do now.
