Looks like prep work is starting. I still don't think that this is the best solution, especially now that it looks like they are putting in a road for the subdivision just west of Hardy. And the church and subdivision road just east of Hardy.

This is going to be a mess if this morning was any indication. Multiple trucks on the side of the road facing oncoming traffic.

At least it's not a diverging diamond.

It will be a mess. Probably not the idea solution, but not sure there is a better one …..what would you suggest as an alternative? Remember that there is way more traffic coming out of the road than Powersports or the church when looking at the total traffic volume.

It will be a mess, but it is already a mess. Way too many business driveways in too short of a distance combined with increased Hardy Weedon traffic from the new subdivisions. I'm honestly surprised there aren't fatality accidents, like the one a few weeks ago, on a regular basis.

I'd love to see the plans if anyone has them or knows where to access them.

Seems strange to me to want to live/have a housing subdivision in an industrial district

I stated in the other thread about the wreck that unfortunately the best solution would be a median. Other options would be to install a road connecting all the businesses that exit at the light. There is no exit from the business side of Hwy 30 that aligns with Hardy.

There used to be a maximum of a few cars turning off Hwy 30 onto Hardy. The other day, I was in a line of ten cars coming home at 5:30. We were trying to turn left, traffic was coming down Hwy 30, people were trying to leave PowerSports and people were trying to turn both ways off Hardy. All it takes is one person thinking that they can make it or in too big of a hurry to wait and you will have the next accident.

I have lived off Hardy for eight years now and when we moved in, the three new subdivisions weren't being discussed yet. When developers offer so much and landowners can't afford taxes, this is what happens. More traffic on a road that was never designed for it.

Just wait until they turn 30 into a superstreet, like they did to 2818.

the amount of roadway that they have marked off concerns me. from the new church road to the new subdivision road is coned off. and they started clearing the side of the road from Hardy to the new subdivision road.

I believe they're reworking at least a mile. It's not just simply adding a light. I think they'll add dedicated turn/decel lanes into the new developments and will likely have to rework some of the business driveways across from Hardy Weedon.

A diverging diamond would require an overpass. Other than cost, why wouldn't you want one?

At least it's not a giant traffic circle.

Podcast on traffic lights vs traffic circles

As far as efficiency of traffic movement, traffic circles are better than traffic lights.

I've been impressed to see equipment moving before 8 and after 5 every day since they started.
