Back to trees, I would like to see some enterprising person plant a small white cross, on properties under development, for each tree taken out that has a tree-trunk diameter greater than three inches.

What would that accomplish?

What do you think it accomplishes when people erect a cross in the easement beside a road where a loved one dies? Among other things, remembrance. I may be the only one on this board who does this, but when I drive by a cross on the side of a road, I think of the loss of life on that spot of road. And, for at least a little while, I drive more defensively. That, is what a cross representing human loss of life can accomplish on the side of the road impacting a poor wretch like moi.

I think you can imagine for yourself what crosses popping up on developed properties representing a loss of trees could accomplish. If nothing else, publicity on, and recognition of, the deforestation of the Greater Bryan-College Station Ecosystem.

They are trees. Not humans, not even animals. On the side of a major roadway. You seriously want to put crosses out in remembrance of them? For the time and money it would take to make crosses and put them out you could plant an equal number of replacement trees.

I've lost dozens of mature trees on my little property in the past 4 years from the recent droughts. Probably as many if not more than they've pulled out for this construction project. You're more than welcome to come plant a couple hundred trees on my place in remembrance of the trees lost on Hwy 6.

This reminds me of the time PETA wanted to put up a memorial for the chickens that died when a Sanderson Farms truck crashed on Hwy 21.

For those of you, like Mrs WolfCall and me, who are recovering from the deforestation of the Greater Bryan-College Station Ecosystem, I hope you find time to go out and look at the Super Moon tonight. We are blessed to have a number of oak trees that the moon rises over.

My wife and I are doing our part by planting (and replanting) 75 trees on our place. If only we could keep them alive!

I wish that they could be cut up for fire wood.

Nope. They were out today, at the S. College Station end, starting to put everything through a wood chipper and picking some of it up in trucks. I'm guessing it will all eventually put through a wood chipper

So much for waiting until spring rains and burning the trees. Picking up into brush trucks pile by pile today.
