" An NBC News review of over 30 data center proposals across 14 states found that in a majority of cases, local officials signed NDAs and worked with what appeared to be shell companies that can conceal visibility into the project developers. Five elected officials in different counties said the agreements barred them from sharing information with their constituents."

So essentially our City Manager fell for a scam. Fire him already.

I expect he was executing council's direction.

The way I see it, Council wasted 11 months of staff time (and our $$) on this dud with nothing to show except a huge rift with citizens.

CoCS senior staff are not the best consultants for these "monorail" salesman. In this case some outside consulting would have been advisable.

We are not safe from the impact of big datacenters yet. College Station will run out of water at the same time that Bryan will run out of water from the 1 GW worth of datacenters/nuclear/chip manufacturing going in at RELLIS. Sanderson Farms is trying to keep outsiders from exporting our water as fast as Texas A&M and Bryan are inviting water hungry industry to come and drain our aquifer.

Thank you Sanderson Farms for going to bat for our water security. No thank you to Texas A&M and Bryan city council for giving our water security away.

What blows me away is the concept that a governmental agency could/would sign an NDA with a shell corp.
