You can't turn left out of Valley View anymore. What else would they do?

Since you can't make a left turn from Valley View onto Texas Ave, why are there so many accidents here? Are those turning right trying to cross all the way over to turn left on 2818?

What can be done to mitigate the risk?

I'm guessing it's people turning left to Valley View from northbound Texas, or people u-turning from northbound Texas and getting hit there

Is turning left not allowed (i.e., a posted "No Left Turn" sign) or is there something physically blocking left turns from Valley View?

Simply prohibiting making left turns doesn't mean stupid, impatient, and/or lazy people won't do it anyway. Church at Wellborn was posted No Left forever, but that didn't stop tons of people from doing it until CoCS put in those yellow pylons.

Looking at that video, I can't figure out what happened.

There is a median, so no, it is not possible to make a left from Valley View onto Texas.

I just noticed that the new, extended median shows up on Street View, but not on the satellite overhead on Google Maps.

Still can't figure out what might have put that one vehicle on its side like that.

Most accidents involve either running redlights, not stopping totally while turning right on red, on cell phones, or just driving above the speed limit. Driving safe and following the laws would eliminate probably 98% of the accidents.

Few accidents occur due to vehicle mechanical issues.

Block Valley View (or allow only entry from Texas) and force drivers to take Longmire to 2818 and then left to Texas etc.

It was likely turning left onto Valley View from Texas and got hit on the side

Yes. The left and center lanes on Texas (south) are stopped at the light and are often back up to Kernek Tap road. The right (turn only) lane is open and drivers move right along down this lane at 50mph. The left turn drivers to Valley View needs to cross the left and center lanes (between cars) only to try and cross the right (turn only) lane on Texas. The stalled cars block the view of both the left turner and the drivers in the right lane. It is an accident waiting to happen especially every day 4-6 pm.

What's confusing to me is that the front of the overturned vehicle is facing toward Texas Ave. I would think someone turning left onto Valley View would be facing the other way.

Then again, vehicles in crashes do odd things.

They need to fill in the median at that spot. There is too much oncoming traffic to make a left turn. They need to make their left hand turn at 2818. It's a simple fix.

When I was a Domino's delivery driver, the access to Texas (both ways) was vital. If the left turn to Valley View was blocked, that would require a U-turn on West King Cole, which would be...doable but probably not as safe. And that's would what happen if Valley View was fully right in, right out.

Trying to go back up to FM 2818 through Longmire is annoying, especially as the access road that looped around what used to be Kmart years ago is right in/right out from Longmire.

I went to check the Street View and see this. Wow!

Do my eyes deceive me, or isn't the white car southbound in the northbound left hand turn lane?

Most driving around CoCS is annoying. It is better to be annoyed then hurt.

You know, the only logical solution is to put a red light here, right?

TxDOT should just pull the trigger and make Texas Ave six lanes all the way to Highway 6.
