What good is "earth-shattering and community changing" if the project is not done in our life times?

Scheduled to be completed by 2030. With weather delays (can't work when it's too hot, etc) likely looking at adding another 5 years. So, 2035. Maybe.

BCs has become a larger city. Constant road construction on major highways. 2035 is a conservative estimate.

I love all the new designs.
The 2818 super street works amazing.
The diverging diamond design works well and there are fewer accidents.

I don't get the complaints.

It's old and/or ignorant people screaming at clouds who immediately don't like anything new or different.
They'll come up with anecdotal evidence to try to prove in their minds they are right.

This. Did the construction of both of those projects suck and take way too long? Yes. But they both work so much better than before.

Siad it 1000 times, by the time the 6 project is complete you will need four lanes on each side. I hope they at least build the bridges with the extra lane capability right away

Yes it is going to absolutely suck, but I do like the changes. Especially taking away the left exit to Texas Ave. the left lane gets sooo slowed down now with people thinking they need to slow down to 55 mph on the highway just to exit there.

Also very much agree with this. At least make it easier to add in the future.

I recommend going and looking at the plans closer. There are more than just "3 lanes" in each directions.

1. Dedicated on-ramp/exit-ramp lanes.
2. Bigger frontage roads
3. Lanes in the middle between the frontage rd and the main lanes (auxiliary roads? Not sure what these are called)
4. At some points there are 12-14 lanes across adding extra capacity in all facets, not just the through lanes where people are looking to bypass the BCS area.
5. The outer lanes, frontage roads, and the extra middle auxiliary lanes are designed to help the locals with getting to their destinations quicker
6. Bigger isn't better. Look at the freeway in Katy as an example

FM 2818 and the DDI work so well because it is out of the box thinking and innovative. Hwy 6 will be as well. Traditional highway and intersections are failing everywhere and can't move traffic fast enough. Hence why roundabouts are showing up everywhere, they are just more efficient albeit they have their limits as well.

I dislike the superstreet design because you can't get across Holleman directly anymore, and then they built those apartments there near FM 60 which has a turn lane onto a 60 mph road, slowing down traffic at the wrong time on the northbound side and creating a dangerous area southbound. Millions of dollars spent to avoid that sort of thing and then they go ahead and greenlight it.

Katy Freeway is great. The biggest problem with Katy Freeway is that jumping across four lanes if you want to make a right turn after getting on the frontage road, and you can't see much from the road, either, if you're driving.

I have seen it and lets just say I am skeptical until I see it in action. Years back when they changed the ramps form a diamond to x pattern or vice versa it was supposed to help a bunch but did not. I guess because each main side street off of 6 has an exit. In larger cities you exit for two or more side streets generally it seems.

Lets hope it all works out for the better.

Totally understand why people are skeptical! That was just a cheap band aid. This is more like a total and complete transformation to take it from a "bypass" to a "bypass with useful entry and exit points for locals".
