I haven't seen a garden thread, so forgive me if I've missed something on this forum. Moderators, if it exists, please delete.

I think we need a place where local gardeners can share their experience, plans, crops, honey bees, seeds, soil amendments, master gardening, etc..

I'll start. Starting seedlings now inside until planting day. I've got a variety of tomato & peppers starts going now, but have a bunch of direct sow plant seeds waiting to plant (cucumbers, beans, squash, etc.).

Would like to see what others are doing. Anyone starting early spring leafy greens? What do locals grow each month, year - round? Cool techniques, etc...

Fall and winter veggies made it through the freeze (cabbage, collards, peas, spinach, carrots, beets, bok choy). Have got a few pepper and tomato seedlings and runner beans (they like cool weather so maybe I'll get a crop).

Right now all the dead stuff needs to be cleaned up. Can't wait for no more freezes!

I'm still deciding the best spot in the new yard.

Still working on setting up the garden in a new spot this year. Good reminder to get started on the seedlings and planning, but my indoor plant cabinet is full of propagations for a landscaping project for an unuseful corner of the yard. I do have a walking onion starting so I am excited about that.

Dragon fruit is currently in the greenhouse for winter, and I need to finish transferring a bunch of little ones to new pots. Still an experiment, but I think the ability to move in and out of the greenhouse will be crucial if I have any chance of getting fruit.

Pineapple guava are in pots in the greenhouse waiting to be transplanted this spring. Trouble has promised to experiment with pies if/when I get fruit.

Have to move the chicken coop this spring so I can start on the mini-orchard this fall. Any suggestions on fruit trees?

I refuse to start cleaning up until the end of February, but will be hitting it heavy at the start of March. In the meantime, I have begun ordering things here and there (new cucumber trellis, etc.).

Trying to decide on reviving the tomatoes from last year as they are still fruiting (and it's cool to get home grown tomatoes in the winter!) but all good things must come to an end.

Hoping Dan the Chili Man has weird pepper seedlings again at the farm market. He sold me some gems last year. I encourage all chili heads to check him out.

Right now my issue is a blown out back preventing me from doing a lot of serious garden work. Might be the year I finally sign up for the Big Event.

Ok so stupid question where do you all get seeds and such. Lowes packs just seem too much yo use?

Navasota, Martha's Bloomers. They have excellent starts too. Check out their raised beds when you're there and talk with their gardener. He is super knowledgable about local growing conditiins

After the freeze

The romaine lettuce leaves knows how to completely surround the middle to protect it from the freeze and stay alive

Don't know yet. Have attempted for a couple years but not been very successful. Bed got over run with nut grass and junk. Just cleaned it this weekend and wife and I are about to plan what to plant.

Often due to impatience I'll order seedlings early via Etsy. Yeah it costs an arm and a leg but sometimes it pays off.

Got lots in the greenhouse right now. Need to get the final cabbage, broccoli plantings out in the garden. Potatoes go out this week as well to hopefully get a good rain on Saturday (maybe) to water everything in.
Peppers were started in January and repotting to bigger cells last week. Got a late start on some tomatoes last week in my grow tent in the house. Got herbs ready to pot up to the next cell size up. Probably wait one more week to start squash seedlings. (they always sprout faster and ready to go out earlier than I plan.) Focusing on a mid March to plant everything (hopefully my tomatoes that another farmer started for me are ready by then.)
This is crunch time for me to have transplant ready in a month.
Rabbit barn half emptied to 1/2 the garden and tilled in over this past weekend.

My peas and lettuce did not survive the freeze. Granted, I didn't really try to protect them in any way because I was more worried about my blackberry that decided it was a great time to start putting out tender shoots last week. They were in raised stainless steel beds so they also didn't get much help from ground heat to keep them from freezing through.

This week I moved my tomatoes out of the garage grow tent onto the back porch to see if we can't get them hardened enough to plant soon. I started these in December so they're already a foot tall. I'll cover them if we get another freeze.

Looking to liven up my porch/patio area but havent done much with plants before.

Suggestions for someone just starting out? It is east facing and sits in the shade all afternoon. Was planning to go by lowes/walmart for some cheap "let's see if I can keep it alive" plants in a couple weeks.

Easiest thing to plant that will be lush and green and flowering is lantana. Mine started as babies two years ago and now my front flower bed is stunning up until it freezes.
