They said they were supposed to break ground in fall 2025. Not sure how baseball fields affected that.

Hey Bob Yancy, while you are here posting about baseball fields, can you answer my question on when at least the Disc Golf part of the park will be finished and ready for play.

thanks!

I think Yancys silence speaks for itself.

I'm sorry I'm just seeing this. I'll do some digging and update you with what I find out.

The project is in design. It was awarded to Arkitex Studio in the amount of $1.8m

It'll have a signature playground, a fishing pond with dock, trails, bike park including a pump track and a Strider track for little ones, a dog park, two disc golf courses, an open field for public play sports, a restroom / concession facility (completed) some roadway and a parking lot with lighting.

It has been previously approved and $9.2m budgeted through FY2025 with $1,870,250 spent. $7.25m is slated to be spent this fiscal year. As soon as the design is done and Construction Docs (CDs) completed, you'll see activity out there again.

I'm sorry for the delay in responding.

Do you have a timeline, like will this happen before the ballfields? Seems like it's been in design for a while. Is the restroom out there functional?

It has been slow. I feel the same way. We pivoted fast away from ballfields once the soils issue materialized, finished the concession/bathrooms building because the slab had already been poured, but had to hit the brakes to capture the will of the bosses and go to design with that feedback. All of that happened at a brisk pace, but lately it's been much much slower.

I'll get more detailed info on pace and scheduling and report back. I know $7m+ is scheduled to be spent on construction this year. Unless there's something I'm missing, you should see activity out there relatively soon.

Wow. That's fascinating to read. Blast from the 2023 past. I had forgotten about this thread completely. I think it's important that Texags has this available to us from a government accountability perspective. It also highlights for me the massive volume of detail that transpires over the life of these projects, and just how many projects / agenda items we deliberate. This seems like a decade ago.

Kind of proud my recollection today aligns almost exactly with what was transpiring back then, even though I'm not getting any younger! ;-)

Y'all be safe out there.
