I will be with a group of about 8 traveling to town today for a tournament in Bryan. What places would y'all suggest?

Edit...yeah Mr G's probably better for the family. RX if it's all adults. Both downtown.

Mr. G's in downtown Bryan is the best. Champion is also good. We had Gumby's recently and were pleasantly surprised.

Theres also a new place called Crust on Texas Ave. and Blaze Pizza in Century Square.


We quit going to Rx years ago because our pizza was always undercooked in the middle.

RX was one of my favorite spots when I lived in CS. Really good pizza (at least it was when I lived there) and good cocktails.

Thank y'all for the replies. We''re coming in from the FW area and will have kids with us, so I don't know if cocktails will be in the cards for us. When I say kids, I should clarify that they are middle schoolers, so not young kids.

Is Crust an adults centric place like RX?

No, Crust is definitely kid friendly and there's a large patio as well.

Champions is good, but oftentimes the bottom of the crust can be soggy. The ends of the pizza, where you take the first bite has been wet the last few times I have ordered pizza by the slice. I still eat it, but wish that wouldn't happen. I actually stopped going there because of this soggy/wet end pieces. (Basically the first bite.)

Last night, I went to Famous Famiglia in Northgate for pizza by the slice, it's always my first choice because their pizza crust is never soggy & you can choose many different flavors by the slice but the parking there isn't convenient. You have to park on the street, pay $2.95 an hour for your spot, and walk there. Both places are extensions of their New York City locations.

It was great.

I also held Primo Pizza in high regard for its short run.

Nothing will ever touch a piece of chicken bacon ranch from Antonio's. And my second favorite, bleu cheese buffalo chicken.

I have to agree. Many years I ago I went because people said it was so good. My margherita pizza came out with dried basil on it instead of fresh. I was like "I thought this guy was Italian". I gave it an honest go but it just wasn't great. I've never been back just because of that. It told me all I needed to know.
