Jail record says the charge is "POSS CS PG 1/1-B >=4G<200G"

2nd degree felony, that is a legit drug charge

That is what they all say.

If any of my neighbors get arrested, I will say I knew they were about to do something, but couldn't get anything to stick.

I'll just say that I don't remember any drunken fights in the front yard.

Amazing how in the course of three months he went from "good chance of getting re-elected in November" to "arrested on drug charges".

Have to think they were looking at something else and happened into the possession charge. I don't know that for sure but bringing in an outside DA and the Texas Rangers would seem to indicate more to come

Is this who I get jury summons from???

My assumption is that since he's a County employee (and elected) that having the Rangers handle this provided some measure of institutional separation.

Was thinking this was due to his position as District Clerk. I thought Texas Rangers were used to investigate government officials or people with ties to law enforcement.

Very underrated post.

I don't personally know Gabriel, but it appears that his life is unraveling right before our eyes.

Texas Rangers bread and butter is political corruption investigation so if they're involved theres definitively some ****ery going on.

He is a local politician in a public position. Nobody in the County should handle it.

That's not entirely true. They primarily assist small, rural jurisdictions with violent offenses, conduct officer involved shooting investigations, a myriad of things along the border, and are the go-to for political/government corruption. The majority is not the latter listed.

Also keep in mind that based on the KBTX story, DPS CID did the search warrant. DPS CID is not the Rangers. They do quite a bit, largely narcotics work. It could just be that because of him being an elected official, they asked the Rangers to assist.
