It's the state capital. The Governor has EVERY right to tell that idiot Adler to clean up the cesspool he has created. It's mind boggling that the people of Austin continue to elect these absolute morans to run the city.
Yup, I'm in this camp. The Gov lives in Austin, and the Leg spends a good amount of time here. If you are going to try to make a liberal utopia in the middle of a deep red state, you should do it somewhere with less visibility.
City of Austin politics affect a lot of non-COA citizens. There are 2MM people in the Austin MSA, but less than 1M of them live in the city limits to vote. You say that's their problem? Then explain extra-territorial jurisdiction and annexation.
My parents live in a fancy neighborhood that was recently annexed by COA, against their wishes. Upon annexation, the crime rate in the neighborhood rose dramatically, not hyperbole. Their neighborhood used to be policed by TCSO, and their presence was always noticeable. I have not seen APD car in their neighborhood yet. Why? Because COA is so short on police officers who are engaged in policing downtown and other areas, and meanwhile the city council finds lots of other useless, artsy ways to spend tax dollars. All the while there are city council members who are openly anti-police.
Hopefully this homeless debacle will get the people to make changes in the city Gov.
