So. Looks like I'll be moving to Leander. Rouse High School district, so East Leander? (Currenty unsure what middle-school & elementary schools yet, but I'll have one kid at each level). Divorced, middle-aged, remote worker, with young kids here, making the move as a compromise with my week on/week off deal. Any good Ags in the area? What's the scoop?

Hey bud. I'd be happy to give you some feedback on Leander, at least my opinion. We moved to Lago Vista 5 years ago and it's been great for our kids. Feel free to drop a PM.

Leander is a very nice bedroom community. It is now about the same size as Cedar Park but has much less retail so you will likely go to CP a lot for things.

The schools are all solid but, like most places, the quality correlates with socioeconomics. The further south the better the school (Vandergrift being the highest rated, the Cedar Park/Vista Ridge, etc).

Lots of Ags in Wilco

We moved from Round Rock to Leander (Crystal Falls - Grand Mesa) 9 years ago, just before retirement. The area has grown a bit too much for my liking so we are considering moving away. My drives to HEB, the gym, yoga studio and bike trails (Brushy Creek Regional Trail is a cool asset) require more time and patience (not easy driving slow in a BMW).
Rouse is a 5A school with very good academics and athletics. Vista Ridge and Vandegrift are 6A.

I'm actually in the process of helping some fellow Ags buy in Leander. It's a beautiful community with lots of great amenities. Before settling in the Dripping Springs area, I really thought about the Cedar Park/Leander area. It was definitely on our list. Will you be working from home or commuting to work? That may be something to think about as well. Let me know if you'd like me to set you up on a housing search.

It's a typical "copy paste" suburban area with the same neighborhoods and retail centers over and over but with some pockets here and there of older small community development.

Lago Vista is too far. My clients work near downtown.

Red Pear Realty gives a portion of our commission back to buyers up to 1.5% of the purchase price goes toward closing costs. This year, most of my clients have gotten over $8,000 back as a buyer rebate at closing. It's a great way to ease some of those upfront costs, especially in this market.

I'm in Georgetown but pretty close to Leander and off Leander Rd (2243) and Parkside on the river. Half the neighborhood is Leander ISD. I really like the area.

We built in Leander about 3 years ago, we're close to the new HEB off 29 so super convenient and there's tons of new retail coming in. (Finally some good coffee over here thank god.)

A lot of the subdivisions are kinda cookie cutter but they're clean, safe, quiet, and zoned for good schools.

The house is on half an acre and we are right by Hancock Park with boat/rv parking on-site. Here's the listing if at all interested in having a look: https://www.har.com/homedetail/20502-greeley-cv-lago-vista-tx-78645/6785842

Lived in Leander for 14 years and Cedar Park before that for 12. In 1990 they had combined 3,000 people now over 100,000. The ETJ of Leander is huge so it will continue to sprawl for a few more decades probably topping out at 2-250K. Pretty much nobody is from here, so you'll fit right in. Restaurant situation is still pretty weak but several new clubs have opened recently. Traffic is not great and getting worse. Lots of new international people lately too.

I refer to it as North Austonio.

I haven't lived in Leander, but after spending some time looking around down there for a possible move a few years back, we liked Liberty Hill and Georgetown better.
