I play for one of the sandlot teams in Austin and it's a ton of fun. It's low-pressure but generally competitive wood bat baseball with beer and good community. I highly recommend getting a group together and starting a team. As far as I know, there aren't any games played north of town in our league, but it would be well worth the drive a couple times a month to get involved. Aside from the games played in east Austin, there are a few games played down in Lockhart and a bit east of town at the Longtime. I'm just a player, not an organizer/manager, so I'm not sure exactly how the schedules are developed or how new teams get pulled into the fold. I'm pretty sure everything flows through
Sandlot Revolution.
Even if you decide not to go that direction, you should definitely still get together and play ball. Getting back into regularly playing baseball has been one of the best decisions I've made for myself in the past several years.
