Wife and I making a quick trip for our anniversary Saturday and staying at Zaza. Mainly planning on just chilling by the pool and relaxing. Curious if there are any can't miss spots for food or things to do in the area.

Sammies, Red Ash, J Carvers (A little late for an open table reservation but you might call and see if they have an odd reservation, might be 5pm or so)

Don't know exactly what you're into, but Hold Out is one of my favorite breweries downtown. They also have a killer happy hour and the best chicken sandwich in Austin.

Those are going to be tough reservations to get at this point. Best bet is going to be to call and see if you can snag a cancellation.
We did Peacock a couple of weeks ago, and it was excellent if you're into Mediterranean cuisine. La Piscina is in The Proper Hotel and I've heard it's really good Mexican food. Garage Bar is close by, and is a small space hardly anyone knows about. The Roosevelt Room is fun for drinks, and also to look at the stupid $200 cocktails.

Red Ash is overrated. Go to Intero instead.

Texas Chili Parlor is good. It's one of the few old school holdouts.

RIP.....Huts, Jim-Jim, Original Z-Tejas, Threadgills, Katz's, Hill's Cafe, Shady Grove, etc

I miss all the old eclectic eateries Austin used to have.

Wife wanted Italian. Made a reservation at Taverna which is supposedly close to the hotel. Hopefully it's good
