Can anyone recommend a good sports medicine place? There are a thousand of these around and I'm not sure where to go.

I have some kind of side deltoid injury that is killing me I want to get looked at.

Thanks.

My husband goes to Dr. Mann at Dynamic Sports Medicine, but I haven't had a chance to go check them out yet.

I broke my ankle years ago. As I have gotten older I started having more and more issues. Went to see a couple of specialty doctors and it seemed to me that their first approach was always from a surgery perspective. I would have probably gone this direction had they not suggested that I wait until I was a bit older and the technology had gotten better.

Eventually I started developing a back issue and a friend suggested I see a chiropractor named Jeff Sacrella at T Bar M Tennis Center in North Dallas. First about Jeff; He is a world class athlete. Played tennis at FSU and reached some very high levels of the sport. Today he is a highly rated triathlete. Besides his athleticism he combines this mindset with his love of physiology.

In going to see him he quickly diagnosed my issues, worked with me in his office and then gave me a plan to work on these problems. The real kicker is he explained to me what was happening with my ankle that surgeons just never did, worked to get flexibility going, scraping out scar tissue and a plan to work on it. I am so much better today and shudder when I think about how I was practically begging for an ankle replacement.

So, I throw this out for you as maybe a second opinion type of thing. I cannot say enough good things about Jeff.

Dr Rey at AOA Dallas does excellent work with upper extremity. That is who I would recommend.

Plano Ortho and Sports Medicine - posmc.com, specifically Dr. Mike Howard.

I had a similar issue (partially torn rotator cuff) with my shoulder before COVID after a nasty fall while skiing towards the bottom the Imperial Bowl in Breck. Dr Howard was awesome with helping diagnose and get the proper treatment/PT. He was prepared to do surgery if I really wanted but said it would be a tougher road to recover from then just letting time and nature do it's thing with a little help.

I've known a couple of surgeons that could have gone anywhere for surgery. They both chose the Carrell Clinic.

Carrell Clinic seem to be the hands down winner here. Good to know.

I actually got into see folks who did my shoulder last time only because I got in immediately. My X-rays are clean but doing PT on Tuesday with the guy I did this with after my surgery in 2019. I've got what seems to be a pulled muscle in my right shoulder and may have some labrum issues in my left.

Going to see how PT goes and if that doesn't get me better I'll go check out Carrell Clinic.

FWIW, I've used three different docs (different specialties) at Orthopedic Associates in Flower Mound. All great. They give you options and seem to cut as a last resort.

Dr Field Scovall, Carrell Clinic in Frisco. Former Tech safety and named after his grandfather who ran the Cotton Bowl for years. BDF championship trophy is called the Field Scovall BDF trophy.

I think he no longer tosses tortillas. He treated my grandson for a broken leg he suffered playing HS football.

I'm seeing Dr. Moen at Carrell Clinic on Monday so thanks again for the recs here. Kind of a winding road to get there but hoping to get this diagnosed soon. Getting MRI's this Thursday.

Both my shoulders are completely ruined right now. Not great, Bob.

Carrell Clinic has worked on most of my body parts. And the rest of my family. Will return when the next body part stops working as well.

Haven't been to Carrell Clinic, but as others have said.. I've only heard great things about the clinic. FWIW, I believe the Cowboys and Mavericks players get sent there. That's where Luka went for his recent injury.

Another good option is Texas Orthopaedic Associates.
I went there for my two knee surgeries (ACL in 2017 & Meniscus 2020) which were done by fellow Aggie, Dr. Scott Paschal.

Thanks again everyone for the rec on Carrell Clinic. Had a good visit.

Confirmed frozen shoulder in the right so I'm looking at least another year with that. Fun.

And I have rotator cuff inflammation and bursitis in the left. PT and time.
