Howdy all,
As some of you know, my wife and I were blessed with the birth of John Benjamin on Jan 2nd of this year. On the morning of January 3rd, the on call pediatrician informed us that John had Down syndrome. We had not done pre natal testing as my wife is only 28. (27 at conception) and the odds were so low. We also knew that any diagnosis wouldn't have changed anything in our plan to bring our sweet son into this world. Though a shock when we were told, we couldn't be more blessed with the sweetest little man.
For a detailed thread on our finding out about John's diagnosis and updates over the past 6 months, here is a thread on Liucci's premium: https://texags.com/forums/25/topics/3263525
In this first year, we have been reached out to by other members of the Down Syndrome Partnership of North Texas and found an amazing community that advocates for our son and other children in the greater metroplex that have Down Syndrome.
Each year the DSPNT has a "Step Up for Down Syndrome" 5K and Family Walk as a fundraiser. All funds go towards advocating, educating, and support for children and families of children with Down Syndrome. For a list of events that the DSPNT puts on, feel free to visit their webpage: https://www.dspnt.org/.
The Step Up for Down Syndrome event this year is October 15th (Which happens to be a bye week for the Ags) in Grand Prairie. Why I am coming to you all today is for the dreaded favor from a stranger. While I would love it if any of you could join John Benjamin's team and come walk or run in the 5K, I know many of you are insanely busy. You can also donate to John Benjamin's team, share the team page, or even a simple prayer for a successful fundraising effort and fun day for John and all the other children at this years event. The link to do so is: https://www.classy.org/team/436532. We are currently around 55% of our fundraising goal in a weeks time.
Here are some recent pictures of John Benjamin including his baptism for those that don't have access to the Premium forum where they are also posted:

Thank you!
