Anywhere in town that can do a REALLY good haircut? I'm looking for a place that tells ME what haircut I'm supposed to have (based on face shape and hair type), rather than me just telling them what I want and then trying to get 85% of the way there.

I'm looking for the kind of place you see in Tom Ford transformation videos or something where you sit down and they take control.

I live in College Station and obviously we don't have anything like that, but I'll be up in DFW at the end of the year for a couple weddings and wanted to go before that.

I haven't paid for a haircut in over a decade.

If you can wait until you're in DFW, go see the guys at Local Barber Shop in downtown FW. They usually have about a month long wait list but you might be able to squeeze in.

He hasn't cut my hair since I moved from Dallas 5 years ago, but I highly recommend Omar at Bonafide Barbershop in Lower Greenville (he owns the place). He cut hair at some higher end salons, so he's part barber and part stylist.

Omar would be a good choice.

Nice, I miss that shop. I had hopped all over Dallas trying barbershops until landing there for a year or two.

Even now, when I go to a new barber, I show them a pic of a haircut Omar gave me.

I was there last week getting my hair done and a man came in to get his hair cut. He lives in Dallas, as do I, and we choose to drive over to get our hair taken care of. He told me that he tried lots in Dallas but Mahnaz made it worth the trip. She also cuts my hair.

You could attempt to book him, but he's pretty boutique and typically referral only. But he's the type of droid you need for something like this.

If you can get in, you will pay somewhere north of $100.

Price range?

If you are not having someone come to your house and cut your hair you are doing it wrong. Mine cuts my hair and my son's for $75 total including tip.

And she keeps every dollar with substantially zero overhead. Win, win, win.

And if you don't make enough to have a $300 haircut, then you don't need anything more than Fantastic Sams.

I have pretty much the same predicament as the OP, but does anyone have an Omar type that is north of 635. Ill pay for a great cut, but I wont drive too far for one.

We tried an at-home lady once and she was awful. Convenient though.

I had a great girl at the Gents Place near Preston and Royal. She was one of the master barbers and taught at a barber college on the side. Most there were good but she was a cut above.

You could try a master barber there…

Another good options is to invest in a Flobee. You will get a nice even, consistent cut.

I saw an interview of George Clooney not too long ago and he said he cuts his own hair using a Flobee. Said he's used it for years.
