We are looking to build an attached covered patio and just beginning to get quotes. We have received quotes from $65K to $215K. We are wanting a cover to match the roofline, fireplace and built in kitchen. Overall space is only 25 feet by 15 feet.

Edit: There is a significant amount of drainage work in those quotes as well, including catch basins and 215 feet of pipe to the curb.

Does anyone have recommendations for companies they have used?

Not in DFW so unfortunately can't help a ton there but I just underwent a similar project in Denver.

Get multiple bids, you might find that you'll save money by breaking things off. I hired the following, I added cost estimates too:

Landscape Architect for the master plan (1.5K)
Paver company for the hardscape (70K)
Plumber for the gas line (1K)
Granite guy for the countertops (8K)
Structural engineer for the patio cover plans (1K)
Framer for the patio cover (3K). I provided all the materials (7K)
I'm doing all the electrical work and will assemble the louvered pergola (19K).
I'm also submitting the permits and coordinating all the inspections.

I discovered early on that most of the companies that claim to do everything actually don't. They'd use a sub and then just tack on 10-25% onto their fee. Our LA, who did the initial design, also does construction work but their bid was over 250K.

I remember the days when you could buy a nice house at those prices.

Do you have drawings for your project?

A few rough pencil sketches. Most of the contractors we met with would not provide drawings until the deposit was made. While I could probably save money subbing the contractors myself, I just don't have the time.

Where are you located in Dallas? I would love to come take a look and talk through it with you. I did a big porch for a guy on texags back in 2023. See pics below.

Really nice work!

I am actually located in Burleson with us looking to take on something more complicated from an engineering standpoint. We want to tie it into the existing roofline. Something like below is what we are looking at getting done.

I have a guy and can give you his contact. He did a similar project for my brother in Benbrook and is working on my backyard right now.

TSA constructors out of mesquite - Sam Anderson

He is a longhorn but does great work. He built our extenive back patio entertainment area as well as my office buildings. On site almost every day. His subs do a great job
Highly recommend.
