Has anyone been following this? The Sheriff was indicted several weeks ago, arrested, bonded out and put himself on leave. Here's that story:
Johnson County Sheriff arrested, faces felony sexual harassment, retaliation charges
As if that wasn't bad enough, he was indicted again! This time on perjury charges stemming from something that occurred on or around the time of the arrest.
The fourth indictment filed Wednesday and obtained by WFAA revealed Sheriff Adam King was indicted for aggravated perjury.
I talked to a buddy of mine in Johnson County that is more than just a resident (leave it at that). He had no inside info (or at least didn't reveal any -- and I wouldn't repeat it if he did) but said the original charges seemed out of character for the Sheriff. He also said he knows how thorough the Rangers are in their investigations.
False denials are not going to help King's case in the harassment business. It is unlikely they could get a perjury indictment without some pretty strong evidence. Saying "I did not" under oath when, actually, you did speaks of either arrogance or stupidity, or he's telling the truth and the evidence used to indict him is false. While plausible, the latter is unlikely. But I withhold judgment for now.
