Anyone know of a good spot to park for State Fair of Texas? I am going with work tomorrow and just looking to not pay $30

Just bite the bullet and pay it. Either that or take the DART.

DART or $30 right there

Fair is pricey. 30 bucks might be a rounding error by the time you get out of there.

Would strongly recommend DART as well, super easy.

It's going to be the cheapest thing going

DART is your best bet. Attendance is waaaay down. People are fed up with high prices.

Just took DART there yesterday from White Rock Lake station with no issues. Wait time at the Blue/Green line transfer point was about 5 minutes.

DART - and if you're coming from the north or the west, park at Market Center Station (Wycliff & Harry Hines) under the police observation towers, and take the Green Line all the way in. No transfer, straight shot.

Yeah they're doing the best to say its not an issue, but it was totally empty when we went on Opening Day.

We went Sunday morning, and I've never seen it that empty. Didn't need to wait in a line for any attraction, game, ride, or vendor. It was wild.

A lot of the decreased attendance is due to rumors that there will be ICE agents present at the fair. Doubt that is actually true, but I've seen the rumor that there will be "1,000 ICE agents" posted in several places.

Does kind of make you wonder how many illegals there actually are in/around DFW though, the footage I saw of opening weekend was wild. Absolute ghost town.

Haven't seen any of that but seen a fair amount of comments on the prices on Reddit / Instagram.

$12 for a slice of pizza? $14 for a hot dog? $25 for a turkey leg?

The consumer has had enough and they've decided they aren't paying it.

Went Saturday for the first time in years, pricing is out of control. Could have paid for season tickets to six flags, and we were only there about 4 hours.

We ubered, dropped us off right in the front of gate 5.

Also, don't prepay for the midway coupons, they charge an extra $2 and the line was longer to pick up the coupons than just buying them there.

Interesting, I've seen it on IG, twitter, Facebook, reddit etc. It got to the point that State Fair officials and DPD both addressed it to try to dispel the rumor https://www.audacy.com/krld/news/local/state-fair-of-texas-responds-to-questions-over-ice

I do agree that prices have gotten absurd and that's also a big part of it.

Saw very little difference in police presence than years past, but a significant amount more of armed plain clothes security officers. Figured it was more a response the shooting a year or 2 ago as well as the threat of one

Also keep your head on a swivel on DART. 2 murders on trains in the last week

Where's the Texas national guard when you need them?

Ok, here is the update...

I drove 3 of my coworkers there and we found some offsite parking for $20 that was literally 500 yards from a fair entrance, so not bad at all.

I spent $30 on coupons knowing I was only going to be there for a few hours. $10 for brisket mac and cheese, $4 for a bottle of water, and $14 for a fried s'more (which was delicious). My work crew went to the food hall, petting zoo, and walked all around the Cotton Bowl (what a dump that place is, can't believe the Longhorns give up a home game every other year to play there). I was in at 11:00 and leaving by 2:00. Overall, not too terribly crowded but really hot.

It was only because it was a work event that I went and safe to say I will probably not being going back next year.

There's a beer barn near the Cotton Bowl that sells beer for four tickets. I assume it's the same this year.

So you're saying you were underwhelmed by the $140M renovation that was just completed?!
