No votes for the original finger banging ride, the grandpa of the Fertitia Ferris Wheel, the Sky Needle?

This is the first thing that came to mind. Riding GL 10+ times in a row was always a good time

Yea boiiiii...also being able to cross over between Waterworld and Astroworld during the summer was pretty sweet. We took advantage of those cheap summer passes back then.

To get an Astroworld season pass you had to wait a couple days and pick up the card the next time you went.

What a feeling that was! Only thing even comes close would be getting a license at Malibu grand prix.

In hindsight, if you were a kid that got dropped off at Astroworld to use a season pass as a cheap day-care, how lucky was that?

What a time to be alive.

At some point they started taking photos and laminating the Astroworld pass right? I used to carry that mofo proudly in my wallet. Later it would be second in my wallet only slightly less important than that Trojan handed down from my older bro that was extremely expired and never used.

I think we had laminated cards until 97 or 98 and then plastic cards after that. I should try to find mine. And someone with a better memory than me can correct me on timing.

The cheap season pass daycare is what ruined the park. Park turned hood. RIP.

As a younger kid, I liked the Black Dragon a lot.

I worked at Astroworld the summer before my senior year of high school. Hated every second of it. Terrible pay and 11 hours shifts outdoors in the Houston summer weather. One day I had a bad case of DGAF and refused to work on Thunder River because I wouldn't wear the ******y shorts with Indian fringe.

The auditorium where they had that Chinese acrobat show had the coldest A/C known to man.

It would be 102 outside with heat radiating off the pavement and 100% humidity.

You'd go up in that theatre and be shivering by the time you come out.

Never seen an A/C that has run that cold since, and we never will again since they banned R-12.

They probably had to keep it that cold to knock the stink down and curtail parasites and airborne disease.

All of my friends from the neighborhood got season passes for Christmas one year. On the days we'd go, we had to find a parent to drop off, and a parent to pick up. They gave us all $20 each for the day.

I can't tell you the number of times I blew most of the $20 on games and had to have a Mrs. Baird's mini loaf for dinner.

Oh, and the Texas Cyclone.

They had that little building to the right of the entrance where you could check in ice chests and they'd give you a claim ticket. So you'd come out and get your hand stamped and go eat your food from a little playmate Igloo cooler and go back in the park. Can't imagine anything like that exists anywhere nowadays. Whatever cash we got sent with got wasted on the stupidest of trinkets or those lemon icees they had that came lemon shaped plastic cup. Seems like there were maybe 4-total water fountains in that park and you always knew where they were. Anyway, good times.
