If this is legit it needs to result in Art f cking Acevedo's swift dismissal as well.
He should already be out of a job, but a new mayor is probably the only way to make that happen.%A0
pretty sure he will be out of the police department,%A0BECAUSE HE WILL BE our next mayor

Sad but true.
I have a feeling Art has his eyes set on a higher position than mayor. That's just a guess, though.

More crooked as cops indicted. Fat ass Art should be flayed but Dim hypocrisy gives him a pass because he is Mexican and the Tuttles were white.

Had the couple not fired shots nobody would even know about any of this and they would have been framed for drug charges or killed and died as drug dealers.

Meanwhile we got to watch an city wide parade / funeral for police justice that was restricted by RACE!

one charged with murder. Probably the guy who applied the double-tap that can be heard on the tape of the incident.

When will Art release the audit of the incident?

Art needs to be fired and Sylvester needs to be criticized for not firing him sooner.

What happened to the FEDERAL investigation? No way a Harris county jury convicts anyone. Especially not With the Lanier family support for the cop.

Which Lanier? Former mayor or mega rich lawyer?
Both are well off but yes the former mayors family. I could not get the story to link but will post screenshot.
It states Gerald Goines had worked part time for the family and was a family friend for 25 plus years. Mrs. Lanier and family have been actively involved with his defense and court hearings.

Why does everything associated with government employees have to be so corrupt. Not much scarier than power hungry bureaucrats (oxymoron I know).

I totally forgot about this case - why is this the first time I'm hearing of a tipster I wonder?

I get your point but what you're speaking of is not an oxymoron but rather a redundancy. An oxymoron is opposing positions- such as "jumbo shrimp" and so on.

I like that Hanks went above what defense was requesting, but 40 mos for swatting two people that leads to theirs deaths seems light.

Reverse the skin color and this would be a different story.
The mayor gave a speech for the the Floyd memorial yet ignored this injustice under his leadership that happened less than mikes away from where he was speaking.

Are you saying that if a white cop forged documents in order to raid a house where an innocent black couple was murdered, this would be garnering national headlines and Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton & Quanell would be taking up permanent residence here?
Pssh, no way. It would be getting exactly the same level of attention, I bet.

Mention of this case in another thread got me curious about how it turned out. Looks like Goines was convicted of murder and sentenced to 60 years in 2024. He'll be eligible for parole after 30 years.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.houstonpublicmedia.org/articles/court/2024/10/08/502221/gerald-goines-60-years-harding-street-murder-convictions-houston/%3famp=1

Ultimately, dozens of convictions were overturned and hundreds of active cases dismissed because of investigations after the raid. HPD audits showed that Goines and other officers in the narcotics unit had engaged in a long running and widespread pattern of illicit behavior that included false overtime claims, failing to log and properly evidence collected (much of it simply disappeared), falsifying records to steal (bogus expenses reimbursements), falsifying reports, and perjury. About a dozen officers were indicted for various felonies after the investigation into the Harding Street raid. I've read that some charges stemming from the investigation have been thrown out, but more on grounds of technicalities (in one instance defense successfully argued indictments for conspiracy to commit OT theft were too broad) than on demonstrable innocence.,

If this was a no-knock raid, the police need to be held liable for ALL the deaths and injuries here. I don't care if the cops were undercover. If they're serving a warrant, they need to have body cams and they need to be on. Without the cameras, we can't be sure what the truth is. Cops have lied before and the burden of proof needs to lie with the people that taxpayers are funding to enforce the law.

Quote:

We Own the City is set in Baltimore 2015. Riots are erupting across the city as citizens demand justice for Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old Black man who has died under suspicious circumstances while in police custody. Drugs and violent crime are surging, and the city is reaching its highest murder count in more than two decades: 342 homicides in a single year, in a city of just 600,000 people. Facing pressure from the mayor's office-as well as a federal investigation of the department over Gray's death-Baltimore police commanders turn to a rank-and-file hero, Sergeant Wayne Jenkins, and his elite plainclothes unit, the Gun Trace Task Force, to help get guns and drugs off the street. However, behind these new efforts, a criminal conspiracy of unprecedented scale was unfolding within the police department. Entrusted with fixing the city's drug and gun crisis, Jenkins chose to exploit it instead.
