Is it possible to get to the airport without getting on a toll? I'm in a rental vehicle while my truck is in the shop and I'm trying to avoid the hassle of dealing with being charged for using the tollway. I'd be coming in either on 290 or I10.

A person really doesn't know how to get to airport without paying a toll?
sorry, I am not from houston and I've only been to IAH maybe three times in my entire life. I pulled up the directions on my phone, with the "avoid tolls" button on, but when I zoomed in I saw Sam Houston Tollway on there so it threw me for a loop. Thank you to the poster for highlighting that it is free around the airport. I appreciate the help.Panama Red said:

well I'm glad that you were so lucky with your rental. my policy with my rental is nothing like that.Ag_07 said:
You mean the hassle of running through toll booths and letting the rental company deal with it?
Seriously though the last rental I had said not to worry about because they have it setup with toll authority already and pay a monthly fee or something that covers all their vehicles.

Look who the OP is...ACAg can't go out to eat without asking where he should go.
It appears to work with rental cars. That is what I have always done (granted, I don't drive rental cars very often). Search "EZPlate" under the Frequently Asked Questions.Greendale 87 said:
Rental Company allows this? At least for National Car rental, their plates are already on file with HCTRA I think. National bills the toll back to you a few weeks after rental at 2x the price. Not end of world.
I did try to pay a toll directly the same day using the license plate option and system would not allow it for my rental. I assumed since National Car already had the plate number registered with the toll folks.
It must be sad posting stuff like this only trying to keep your 30+ post a day avg upmaroon barchetta said:Ag_07 said:Panama Red said:

"Hi, y'all. My wife and I want to spend a weekend in the city. Can you recommend a five-star hotel and a restaurant with at least three consecutive James Beard awards?
Looking to spend $200 or less.
Thanks and Gig 'Em!"

I will pray for you
You stay on the frontage/feeder road along the SH Tollway...that's Beltway 8. Just have to put up with the stops at intersections.AustinCountyAg said:sorry, I am not from houston and I've only been to IAH maybe three times in my entire life.
