I like how everyone is amazed and in awe an aged cloth roof tore off a metal structure in a category whatever hurricane.

I would be more amazed and in awe if it stayed intact.

Curious why they would stage linemen and first responders there

Because it's a large central location not in use.

Why wouldn't they?

Seems pointless if it's a foregone conclusion the roof was going to rip off.

The roof was rated for up to 110 MPH winds, so when they expected stronger winds they moved to Miami

You'd think that roof would be rated for higher wind speeds given the area.

Welp, I guess the risk people made a decision to gamble.....and lost.

Though, I do wonder how much will be covered by insurance.

That's not normal, right?? To have so many BIG tornadoes with a hurricane? I thought they were usually small little EF0 or EF1 tornadoes.

Nope, not normal at all. Hurricanes hate shear. Tornadoes need shear. It's wild that we had a strong hurricane and a really bad tornado outbreak with big wedge tornadoes.

I'm not an expert but every hurricane I have ever heard of has spun off tornadoes with regularity.

Yes, but they are usually quick spun, short lived, F0 and F1. Not these F3 wedges.

The roof would have needed to be made out of something besides teflon coated fiberglass then. Its a similar material that NRG Stadium's roof is made out of and its been repaired 2-3 times due to storms. Seeing how Tropicana Stadium's roof has lasted this long, replacing it is probably still less expensive that an alternative design and material that would be able to sustain higher wind speeds

Some of this tornado damage to places on the east coast is crazy. Ft. Pierce looks really bad.

Yeah, but tropical tornadoes are usually weak and short-lived.

Michael was really bad. Over 20 feet of storm surge.

Mexico Beach: The worst damage was reported in Mexico Beach, where 804 out of 1,692 buildings were destroyed.

Pretty fascinating look at one of the few homes that was inhabitable in the area:

Rhetorical: Why return non-perishable items you will just need later or can use by not buying the same product you are going to need anyway in your day-to-day life?

Answer: Most of these people live paycheck to paycheck and need the cash back.

Certainly but you know there were a lot of people who did this in real life.
