Miles looks like he's accomplishing what he was brought in to do. He has neglected the elite schools and is focusing ALL of the district's efforts and resources on getting really bad students to pass a basic test. And now he has the numbers to show that his draconian methods are superior to the previous groups. I wasn't sure if he was going to be successful, but it looks like he was extremely successful considering what he started with. I'm sure HSPVA and Debakey have suffered slightly as a result, but that's what we get for allowing terrible schools to fester for decades in the district.

Are these gains like the economy? "We killed education and business for no reason, but look at the gains we've made since then!"

Passing a standardized test is not a measure of intelligence. Try speaking to any kid coming out of public school in the last 10 years.

That's why Miles is running HISD.

I view Miles as the guy that comes down from Corporate when they get tired of your division not hitting their numbers consistently. No one likes him, he doesn't "understand how it works", and there are going to be cuts and changes. Maybe it works and maybe it doesn't, but it's not like the last management team was all that good. Ultimately this falls on the voters for allowing the board to factionalize along racial lines.

Some of the stats he was showing on the news last night were mind boggling. He is bragging about the proficiency of students going up 3-4 percent. Ok, great. But it went from like 38 percent to 41! Not even half showed minimum proficiency in core subjects. Wtf?!? So glad my money doesn't go there.

Amen. It's just a bunch of libs and uninformed women screaming so it looks like they care about the schools/kids. HISD was and still is an absolute failure. At least there appears to be a little improvement.
