Harvey was a flood, power, communications all remained up. Yes, it was bad, but a major wind event will be 10x as bad as Ike. There's a million more people now vs '08. Widespread damage will take much much longer to recover from.

On top of that, individuals who've lifted their homes out of the floodplain will be much more resilient to water.

Water > Wind 100% of the time.

It always amazed me the City was spending $400,000+ PER HOME to raise homes in Meyerland when it would have been cheaper to bulldoze and rebuild them.

Is this anything other than your personal opinion?

Have a friend in Meyerland that applied for it but was rejected. But houses on either side approved. Guess they greased the right palm.

Trucks driving through 1st ward again today.

Received an email notice around noon today that my 311 debris cleanup request was "completed by contractor". At 4pm I saw it had not in fact been cleaned up. I called back in and was informed, "oh yeah, we know. It was marked complete because they are supposed to be in your area soon." Of course no one came.

Government logic at it's finest.
