Offshoot of the generator thread, but a very specific question that I don't want to get buried and that might be answerable by people who don't have a generator...
Does anyone in the north/northwest Harris County area (Spring) or southern Montgomery county area use a propane delivery service? I have so many questions that I can't find answers to online.
Has anybody rented tanks and ballpark price? What company do you use?
- Not looking for anything too big. Maybe a couple of 120 lb tanks. Small enough that they don't need to be buried or have their own slab, but too big for me to load up on my own to get refilled.
How close do the tanks have to be to the driveway for them to be refilled?
- area where I'd put the tanks is next to a covered back porch behind our detached garage. But no idea if that is too far for the hose to reach when refilling. Can't find anywhere online about the furthest the tanks can be from their truck.
General cost estimates?
- I'm assuming it's a flat delivery fee plus a premium cost for the propane itself? Any other fees I should be aware of?
Any issues getting refills when you need them?
- Want to keep them on hand to run inverter generator for whole home. (natural gas isn't an option....way too far from gas meter and cost-prohibitive to dig trench and run a pipe). So ideally, would be sort of an "on call" delivery when there's danger of a big storm hitting during hurricane season.
Anything else you wish you'd known before you signed up?
- what are the not-so-obvious issues you wish someone had told you about?
