Hey guys,
I have 5 rings from my grandmother who passed away in August 2022, and I wanted to get them appraised to sell to fund my dad's memory care. I don't think any of them (except maybe 1) has any serious value (>$1000), but they are 10K and 14K gold with some stones. My issue is I'd rather not pay $100 for a ring that's only worth $300-400, but maybe I'm stuck I dunno.

If anyone knows someone who might give a "bulk" discount, or be willing to check them out and maybe only do the ones that have decent value (and just ballpark the others), please let me know. I appreciate it, thanks in advance!

Probably very low value.

I had appraisals done on a bunch of stuff for insurance purposes. Unless it's got bigger stones, it's not going to appraise high. I paid $150 for first appraisal, $75 for subsequent appraisals, and $25 to take a Quick Look to determine whether to bother with an appraisal (value <$1500).

No way I could sell anything for appraised value.

Yeah, if your looking to sell, you may not be thrilled with the values they offer. Uless they are name brand (Tiffany's, etc) or have massive stones, they are basically going to offer meltdown value. I doubt rings of a grandma are going to have much mass appeal for a jeweler, no offense. May try a jeweler or two and maybe a pawn shop and gold/silver type shop just in the event they offer more for the metal. Appraisals for insurance vs appraisal to sell are much different ballgames. Just my experience from when my mother in law passed a few years ago and we were dealing with what to do with her moms old jewelry the kids didn't want.

I don't know his particular offerings today, but we have used and been pleased with Ben Gordon. Might be worth a call.
