I have family members driving back down to Lake Jackson after fleeing up to Dallas to stay with me. Lake Jackson is still a mess with extreme gas shortages due to gas stations not being opened yet. I'm trying to advise them on when to pull over to refill prior to getting to Lake Jackson.

Is Houston experiencing the same gas shortages?

I haven't seen any issues.

Short answer, yes. But no so much of a shortage, but more of a need for some causing long lines. I've heard the Buccees in Madisonville is out of gas, no clue if that is true, but who knows where it starts. I just had a friend get gas in Conroe and he only waited about 15 minutes, this was at the QT North of 105.

West side (Sugar Land, etc.) certainly are. I haven't noticed shortages inside the loop (southwest), but lines have been long

If Lake Jackson is so much of a mess with no gas I'd just tell them to stay put a while longer.

Lines are long at any of the open gas stations on I45 N in the Spring/Woodlands/Conroe Area. I went up 290 through Brenham into Austin last night. All gas stations seemed to be opened and lines were no longer than a care or 2 wait at each pump.

Might advise them to stay west of town and take the back roads. Seems there are fewer people without power and fewer people searching for fuel that direction.
