Is there a restaurant in Houston you could get away with wearing an Ivory tuxedo and not be completely ridiculous? (Yes - James Bond style)

Yes I know I can eat at Popeyes or go anywhere and get away with it, but what places would be most appropriate? I live in College Station, so the nicest place I've been in Houston is Perry's (which I love by the way).

Friday, my fiance and I are doing a pre-wedding photoshoot (maybe it's called an engagement shoot, but I wouldn't think so because there were photos when we actually did get engaged?) in Houston where we're going to get really dressed up and take photos somewhere (I don't know where, the photographer is finding a nice hotel or bar or something). And Friday is also her birthday. So since we'll already be dressed up, I'd like to find a nice place to have dinner.

Your suggestions and jokes are appreciated.

But seriously, Brenner's Steakhouse and 10 and Wilcrest has a really nice photographic back patio (water mill, flowers, etc.) and also is higher end and older clientele so think a tux wouldn't be out of place. And it's pretty good. Herman's old fashion!

Also, the best you have ever had is Perry's? The one at Memorial City Mall has gone way downhill and was close to dog food the last time I went ~2 years ago. I heard they even ask for a credit card to make a reservation now - not a great sign in Houston....

I'd find out where your photographer is taking you and looks close to hit. There are some good suggestions. If you want steak:

Steak 48
B&B

Little's Oyster bar would be a good spot too.

Bludorn and Littles Oyster Bar are super casual. But nobody would care anyway if you wore a tux. I would leave the jacket and tie in the car, regardless of where. I'd say Tony's. I think Turner's is more causal than Tony's. Tony's is prolly the stuffiest place in Houston.

Is it too late to trade in all the pretentiousness that comes with a summertime engagement photo shoot in Houston?

Your fiance is doing this for two reasons:
1) testing various ways of making you submit to inexplicable female impulses
2) content creation to make her girlfriends jealous

Honestly she's not bad with either of the points you mentioned. Her wedding prep/planning leadup is certainly not as dramatic/vain as most others you're going to find. She's not big on social media. We just like getting dressed up and having a nice evening occasionally (yes, in this case "dressed up" is going to be an understatement, but it's for a photoshoot.)

While I wouldn't have scheduled this session, it did come included in the "package" the wedding photographer provides and we don't take a lot of other pictures together. And it's her birthday.

If anything it's me - the dude who just had an ivory dinner jacket sitting in his closet (along with a burgundy, a velvet green, and your standard black tux) - who's the problem...

Wearing a tux outside at the end of August in Houston for a bunch of pictures sounds like a lovely experience. I sure hope the photographer is able to airbrush out the sweat on your face.
