Let me start by saying we are Kalahari people(huge fan) so our expectations were high.

GWL was one of the most overhyped **** holes I've ever been to. Literally every aspect of it was so average it was wild to me.

I had heard this about the Dallas location.

But I figured they had done some R&D and the new Webster location would be better. Wrong.

The list of underwhelming qualities of this place could go on for days

-food options are horrible. Even the sit down place with reservations. Trash frozen food. Only other dinner option is a buffet that I walked through and it was embarrasing Golden Corral level

- at breakfast you can hit that buffet which looked like a La Quinta continental breakfast or Dunkin Donuts which is probably the worst fast food breakfast on the planet. Not to mention it's one small Dunkin for 1,000 hotel rooms. Took 45 minutes to get our donuts and coffee

The outdoor part of the park is just a small pool. Shoulder to shoulder.

Inside is much smaller than Kalahari and much less for kids to do

Even the putt putt course was just cheap bull crap.

Overall…I cannot recommend enough to go out to Kalahari with your kids if you're wanting to do something like this. It's so much nicer.

WGAS about their food? A few minutes south you can go to the daytime buffet at Heartbreakers. Problem solved.

But... who wouldn't want a budget cruise ship experience (sans the budget pricing) without the hassle of leaving shore?

rtpAggie???

You mean rptsAggie?

Just fix it.

And LOL at this being a "science". In what way? Checking the pH of the water in the pool? Using a Bunsen burner to heat up the mini quiches at the buffet?

I can't imagine ever frequenting establishments like these so much that I marry myself to a brand and call myself a "Kalahari people"

I bet the OP's husband gets yelled at a lot for things like folding laundry the wrong way or putting dishes away in the wrong place.

Appreciate the review. I've been skeptical of places like this. Never been to either. My kids are perfectly happy wandering through the filthy thrill rides at six flags.

If you have kids, the Kalahari outside of Austin is pretty fun. And it's still fairly new so everything is still pretty nice. But water parks are like strippers. They age quickly and badly. Best to take advantage before they go downhill.

Considering every single add I see for GWL on YouTube is in Spanish, this tracks.

Kids like GWL and this ones 20 minutes away. I'll be frequenting it, especially using just a day pass.

*I do agree with the OP, I liked Kalahari more, but we went right after they opened during the pandemic so maybe there were 200-300 people there. Hope their food selection is better. There **** was overpriced and not many options then. I wanna eat ****ty pizza and chicken tenders and pound overpriced beers.

What happened to just setting up a sprinkler and kiddie pool in the yard for the kids while pounding beers?

Or getting a holiday inn room and letting the kids swim unsupervised while getting it on with the spouse (or others spouses if into that kind of thing)?

Sprinkler under the trampoline is a freaking classic. Also slip n slides rock, or in my kids case, a tarp, water hose and some dish soap

my aunt used to set up a slip and slide that ended in the ditch by the road when it was raining outside. In hindsight it probably wasn't the best choice to slide and swim in the runoff of various vehicle fluids but we loved it.

I want to do the slip n slide kickball, where the bases are small kiddie pools and the base paths are slip n slides, but I'll probably break something.
