That's a pretty sweet house. I don't want to think about the ac bill with that big open living room.

Update: back to normal, nobody onsite. There appears to be work to be done on the divider over the bridge portion. Also maybe on both side guardrail things. Hard to see as it is above my head as I am still driving on the mf'ing feeder road cause they won't finish the damn thing. 2 crappers still there, but only one has the door flapping in the wind.

After a month and change of nothing, there is finally some action. There is a concrete truck on the overpass. Looks like they are doing something with the center divider. Maybe by the summer it will be open. Still two crappers.

We had some action recently and yesterday. Looks like they poured concrete on the top 2-3 inches on each side guardrail barrier and on the center divider. Before you could see some wire on the top, now you just see new concrete. They still have to paint to match, but at least they are doing stuff. And, the northbound crapper is gone.

We bought our house in Baytown in July of 2023 and moved from Seabrook. In a year & a half I've never seen anyone out there working and I drive that section twice a day every weekday.

The Highway 146 bridge project near Ferry Road is slated to be open in the first quarter of 2025, Texas Department of Transportation officials said.

TxDOT said they are constructing four lanes within the existing right-of-way between Highway 146 and Ferry Road, which is a distance of about 1.45 miles. The project aims to improve mobility by providing continuous main lanes on the roadway.

TxDOT is spearheading the project, not the City of Baytown. ISI Contracting, Inc. is the project's hired contractor and the total cost is $26.6 million, which includes project engineering, construction engineering and general construction.

As some drivers have noticed, there have been some delays to the project, including CenterPoint Energy installing some light poles along the roadway.

"The (light pole) issue has been resolved," Bambi Hall, TxDOT spokeswoman said.

Another reason for the delay is that officials performed a quality check on the roadway and it was discovered that the road surface was too thin.

"During the punch list execution there was an issue revealed with the thickness of the road surface," Hall said.

Workers are expected to finish the repairs within a month or month-and-a-half, depending upon how the holidays and weather affect them, according to Jason Calder, City of Baytown spokesman, speaking on a Baytown Breakdown video made by the city.

Yall haven't figured out yet that road and bridge construction companies are a front for investment companies? They get paid big checks on a payment schedule, racking up huge surpluses, and slow walk the work while the money makes them money. These companies have huge Unearned Cash Balances.

Last thing they want to do is spend that money actually fixing a ****ing bridge.

Sent another inquiry to txdot.

Mr. MBL,

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. The bridge over Alexander Dr. is still under construction; everyone is excited to see the bridge completed and open to traffic, including TxDOT. We are here to ensure that the bridge is 100% ready before opening. A few items still need to be addressed before we can open the bridge.

Please be patient a little longer while we complete the project; we hope we will be ready to open by the end of March, if not sooner. As always, TxDOT's number one priority is the safety of the traveling public.

Thank you and have a great day!

HTF do you fix a road surface that is "to thin"??? You can't just pour another few inches on top and call it good. I'm not a civil or structural engineer, but pretty sure it doesn't work that way.

5/7 1500 update
All equipment and debris has been removed, including the crappers. Guess they aren't coming back. Maybe they are hoping the spring rains, sunshine and warm temperatures will let the concrete grow nice and thick, then they can open it up.

5/21 update: we have movement!!! Crews setting barrels out around the spot where the old 146 connects to the overpass. This is the last spot with no striping. Hopefully that means they are getting really close.

After years or turmoil and despair, our long national nightmare is over. The overpass is now open! Hot damn and hallelujah! Unsure how thick the concrete is, but don't care. For brand new tarmac, it is quite bumpy. Can't wait to see how it ages with all the semi traffic, but, that is tomorrow's problem. Today we celebrate this great achievement in engineering.
