This! And less work from home bums. That nonsense needs to go away
LOL F that. I hated exclusively working from home, but love the "flex schedule" and only having to come in two days a week.

I can be a much more present father, with more time and energy in the evenings. I don't care what the internet super hard working badasses (likely jealous that they have to show up 5 days/wk) think. 2-2.5 hours fewer in the car 5 days a week is a lot of stressful, wasted time, which could have been spent allocated to your family. I get at least 6-7 more waking hours with my family per week. That is significant time.

I kind of wonder if the theory is true, that the "everyone should be working 5 days in-office" crowd on Texags just tend to either not have wife and kids at home or enjoy taking every opportunity possible to be away from them. I don't really judge the guys who want to keep their distance from their family, so not sure why so many of these guys have problems with people who want to be with theirs?
It is my experience that this particular crowd is the older generation. We used to have guys at the office that would work 50-60 hours a week and weekends and would get upset with the younger crowd that worked 35-40 hours and not a second more. The younger crowd got twice the amount of work done than the older crowd. They just worked smarter and not harder.

Many older folks still tie 'time at work' to 'productivity' and to a nearly equal degree to 'self importance'.

These folks have families, they just use work as an excuse to let life pass them by. It's sad to me, but it seems to work for them just fine so, I couldn't care less.

The issue is that work won't always be there. One of the guys we knew in industry worked his ass off for 20 years and then got laid off, and then his wife left him and his kids didn't really see him much because he'd wasted his life at work....he ended up killing himself. Don't waste time at work. It's just that....a waste of time. Get your check, do what you need to do to not get fired, and go home and live life. People love you. Your job does not.

Traffic is always worse around this time of year.
This.

I work in Uptown/Galleria and pass Mem City area on the way in. This is pretty standard imho. Office is on San Felipe and you still very much feel the difference every year.

I've noticed traffic is lighter on Mondays and Fridays.

Friday mornings are great but Friday afternoons are a complete s' show for my commute and it doesn't seem to make a difference what time I leave the office.

Just one more lane will fix it. That's it. Keep widening the roads. One more lane will take care of the problem.

Riding mass transit with a bunch of crackheads ain't the answer either.

Ride public transit? I did it for 14 years every day on the park & ride. Scariest thing i ever saw was a person clipping their fingernails. Crackheads don't ride from spring, Katy, or Sugarland into downtown.

Construction on the Gulf Freeway hasn't stopped since it started in the 50s. You need to bump up your number.

My MiL is BOI and was from the last all-white class at Ball High and she's 78 or 79 now. She still talks about how "nice 45 will be once they finish it."

Just one more bike lane bro.

Public Transit comes with its own set of problems. If you really want to that lifestyle, I'd suggest you move.

Yes, I've lived somewhere in public transit and yes have sat in traffic in buses, sat in packed trains, trains that got cancelled or late, unions that go on strike etc.

A solution that helps doesn't need to be perfect. Clearly what is happening now isn't sustainable.

Just deport all the illegals. That would certainly help.
TheMasterplan

You're not wrong. Arguably adding lanes also helps but isn't a perfect solution.

There is significant overlap between people that want public transit and don't want enforcement of rules/laws to ensure quality of life.

Traffic has been bad right now primarily because of the holidays. I use Amazon for my shopping now.
