First of all I am not judging anyone. Drive whatever you want and whatever makes you happy. Life is extremely short. The tech in Teslas is extremely cool, and I wish my nice gas SUV had some of the amazing tech features like the cameras on a Tesla.

I live in one suburb of Houston, and also regularly visit three other suburbs of Houston. Two of them to visit family, and another to visit a close friend.

The biggest thing I have noticed over the last couple of years is the insane amount of Teslas in suburban Houston.

I will be at a stop light and see nothing but Teslas. When driving I have actually encountered 15 Teslas in a row without seeing another car brand.

What the heck is going on? Why has everyone in suburban Houston bought a Tesla?

Because their neighbor bought one and they are keeping up with the Joneses?

It's not that complex.

Don't want to pay for gas. It's fast. Built-in technology that you have to pay out of the ass for your gas-powered car. And it's relatively inexpensive (Model 3).

I have my doubts about any of that being real. I have only ever heard about this online. People will not even know the name of 90% of the people that live on their street. I do see a bunch of divorce, but that is literally everywhere in the country in every region urban, suburban, and rural.

Tesla has been the cool "it" car for a few years now. It combines the desire to go green that the previous prius drivers liked but it has the new technology and sporty drive that the previous european import drivers liked. Its why you can never tell if a tesla is being driven by an overly timid driver who is scared of cars (former prius drivers) or an overly aggressive dick that will weave through traffic and never use blinkers (former bmw drivers.)

Plus not everyone in suburbia wants a pickup truck the size of a WW2 tank

My first comment when reading your post was "this dude can only be talking about the woodlands." Then i looked at your handle.

simple - people in the woodlands are stupid.

Most American made car, faster than just about any car under $100K, can fit a family on a CostCo trip, fuel is topped off every morning at a much lower cost, fuel price doesn't fluctuate as much based off global conflicts, tech is cool, drives itself, cabin is as cool/warm as I want when I get in (scheduled or on demand)

There are a good amount ITL as well, but the ride quality sucks on the pot hole-filled streets.

All that said, I miss the LX570.

I was in Atlanta in October. They have more Teslas than the Tine. Noticeably more. We started counting them on the drive from Hartsfield to where we were staying near Dahlonega and just gave up.

I don't think they let you buy a house in Riverstone unless you prove you have a Tesla.

Judging by the line at Discount tire everytime it gets cold outside, I'm guessing people don't know how to air up their tires, put gas in a car, change the oil or do the most basic things to a car. If you're taking it in to a dealer everytime you need something done, it gets expensive quickly.

But all kids know how to plug a phone in to a charger...

It's honestly faster and easier to go to DT when there isn't a line and let them do it when compared to having to get the air compressor out, fire up first thing in the morning which pisses off neighbors, unwind the hose, and then do the reverse. I have all the tools and work on my own cars, but will go to DT to get aired up when the cold hits.

A Model 3 Performance is a sub 60k sedan that does 0-60 in 2.9, and never needs to stop for gas. It's pretty awesome.

He specifically mentioned the line.....

I took my wife's car to Discount because a tire had a screw in it. The line for air wrapped around the building. No less than 25 cars waiting....

Get one of the little ones that run off your power tool battery. All major lines have one now and they are great. Haven't used the big compressor in years.

EVs were once about making a statement. Now they are about convenience. Extremely low maintenance, fuel up at night, drive fast, and have giant screens.

So why are you still fueling up at gas stations every other week?

I like EV's. Would have looked at them more when we got my wife's car. But the $7,500 tax credit just inflates the price by about $7,500…

I am talking about Missouri City/Sienna/Riverstone area, Sugar Land/Aliana/Telfair area, The Woodlands area, Cypress/Bridgeland area, and South Katy/Cinco area.

Many family and friends are shocked to see how relatively cheap housing is here compared to other parts of the country and it is a huge draw for them. Many of my family and friends also work in healthcare, and O&G.

Yeah sure thing man.

A bot would know about the freakish Pineapple thing?

By the way. I refuse to believe that it is real and something that actually happens because I have never heard about or seen it in real life.

The only thing people care about in suburban Houston is school district rezoning.

Then why are you confused that the areas of Houston with disposable income buy the current top trending car?

I took home a model Y last night for an extended test drive. I'm a gas guzzling, V8 loving, 50 something Texan but that car is badass. I'm thinking about leasing one for my business. The technology, the unbelievable acceleration, the quiet ride, the self driving (that's so unnatural), the gas savings… it makes sense for me.

I have no green agenda. I'm not a pineapple lover or whatever else label comes with a Tesla owner. I dig cars and they're badass.

My son and I sat in the drive way and played fart noises on the horn. I'm sure my neighbors loved it.

Because a vehicle that can't tow is pretty much worthless in my life.
And I still roll down the window in parking garages and drive-thrus because I love the sound of the turbo whine. (Literally did this yesterday in a parking garage in 15 degrees)
And it would take me about 10 years of paying for fuel and maintenance added to what I paid for the truck to reach the cost of paying for a new Tesla.
And I have 4 kids.
And my family likes to camp and do road trips so a 300 mile range is useless.
