Some sort of superbug is ripping through my factory on the far NW side right now. Out of 28 employees we have 9 that are at work today. All the others complaining of flu like symptoms but more severe. One 31 year old warehouse guy, great shape is in the emergency room having one of his lungs drained.

Are any of yall seeing this out in your area?

This is not local but our Ohio headquarters has ~ 2/3 of staff out with flu/flu like symptoms. all hit within a 3 days window.
yesterday the entire IT staff was unable to report for work. Fun times!

People playing outside in the snow and ice for two days during cold and flu season is probably attributable to or at least a contributing factor to an uptick in employees calling out sick.

It got me last week and one person at the office this week. I tested positive for Flu A. Apparently this years flu shot is only 33% effective.

I don't know if's more than usual for this time of year, but my mom had to go to the emergency room last night and they were working the phone trying to find a hospital with an open bed. They were not in Houston though; may not have been an issue in town but the smaller hospitals apparently have been packed.

I had it two weeks ago. Just the flu. 101 fever (not bad, but I'm the type that normally doesn't run a fever at all when I'm sick), cough, congestion. Just the normal flu crud.

Now it's going around the office pretty fast.

It's no fun, but maybe it's good to get things like the flu a few times when you're young instead of being safeguarded from any and every pesky-but-non-life-threatening illness? I know that probably goes against the latest "science" from the party who thinks men can "chestfeed" and that it's good to chop off the breasts of confused 13 yr old girls, but whatevs.

Yep, antibodies are good, and I agree that men can't feed babies via mammary glands (not have babies). This is standard.

13 year old girl's breasts shouldn't be cut off and I hope that doesn't happen.

I think it's also with COVID we have another virus floating around that is year round. I never used to think about getting sick when traveling, but it's happened to me and anecodetely lots of people I know.

Flu seems to be worse this year than past seasons and we had the recent Norovirus outbreak on top of it. Lots of people getting sick from multiple things and more willing to call out of work.

Cool starry bra, but last time I got sick from international travel I can with almost certainly pin point the source to a the lady who was visibly sick and should not have been flying. Total disregard for others.
