Mine is not sarcastic. What happened to that girl is horrific. Seeing her brave mother up there being told of this name change was very touching

Doing this as a memory of this girl whose story must never be forgotten was a great move.

why is it dumb to name things like this?

the horrific crimes perpetrated by illegals that Biden administration let run roughshod over this country must never be forgotten. naming this area for one of the victims is a great way to preserve her memory so that this heinous crime is remembered.

It's pandering if that's all that was done and the administration pretended the border problem was solved. The southern border is now practically closed to illegal crossings and deportations are happening.

This is meant to be a powerful reminder of the consequences of the previous border policy.

I have zero problem with this.

But in reality, there's no chance in hell I'll remember it was renamed and it will always be Anahuac to me.

Sorry, but I think so too. It's a wildlife refuge. If you're gonna rename it for a person, use someone that's been a force in the conservation world.

There's a lot better ways to remember and pay respect to Jocelyn. Besides, we all know it's all political pandering.

This is pandering garbage. Somehow i doubt DOGE savings will be allocated to fund the signage, paper materials, repapering of existing agreements, maps and other digital presence changes which the government will be paying for to change the name.

By definition, it is NOT pandering.

Such an odd thing to be upset about. A wildlife refuge being named for a girl that was brutally raped and murdered because her government failed her. Let us know when Elon Musk comes out against this because it saves a couple thousand dollars.

It's one thing to think that something else should've been named for her and this area should've been named for a conservationist. It's completely different to faux rage and be butt hurt about it.

I drive by the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge sign every day and I'm looking forward to seeing the new name. It will be a daily reminder of what the democrats intentionally allowed to happen to Jocelyn and thousands of other Americans. The only way the name could be better is if it was renamed the "Jocelyn Nungaray was Murdered due to Democrats Policies National Wildlife Refuge."
