All for it. Not only does it show that this administration actually gave a **** about this young girl, it serves as a reminder.

To every dip**** lefty that turns a blind eye to open borders, when they see that name, they'll remember that girl was a victim of their stupid tribal voting patterns.

Yep, most will not give a flip. But I'll bet quite a few hispanics will.

I visit there the NWR about twenty times a year. I couldn't believe what I was watching when trump renamed the place me and 60 other people care about during the SOTU address. Not because I really care what it's called but because my little corner of the earth in BFE was in the national spotlight for 15 seconds.

That being said, I don't imagine myself ever calling it anything but Anahuac. That just what it is to me at this point.

Takes a special kind of scummy CM to think a person that is happy to see some commemoration of the life of a girl whose life was tragically taken by illegal aliens has been "bought".

Keep defending leftist BS. It's a great look.

I think a lot of the reaction here is ingrained cynicism which our government has rightfully earned. If we had a President Mike Pence or Jeb Bush that did something like this I would be pretty dismissive of it too (not to mention if any Democrat did this).

However if you just look at what is happening it should be clear this is part of a broader effort to secure our border. On one side you have the actual action of border crossing enforcement and deportations and on the other side you have what could be viewed as the political and marketing side of the effort. Stuff like this is meant to be an "educational tool" to remind people that lack of control at the border has real consequences. For most of us that are plugged into this, gestures like this won't matter much, but to someone that doesn't think about this stuff often, this can help conceptualize policy.

That makes a lot of sense. Good post.

I don't think anyone expects the entire world to start calling it by its new name overnight. That never happens anytime you changed the name of something.

What's weird is people that are angry about the change or accuse others of being "bought"when the entire reason for the name change is literally because we had a president in office that was bought by liberal interests and foreign governments

i have long since stopped giving any semblance of a f*** about our government and whatever influencing messages they try to sell to us, both parties.

i'm not angry about the actual change, i really don't care one way or the other. but it's clear based on all the reactions here that it very much does resonate with mostly a particular side of the aisle, which as far as i'm concerned is exactly what this decision is meant to do subconsciously - resonate with his supporters. of course, this will be presented as a way to not forget the wrongs done and lack of control of immigration, but it's meant to rally the forces against these issues too and i don't see how you could deny that. and this nonstop bombardment from the left and right wears me the F out.

besides, i cannot buy that this idea that naming something after someone makes any sort of meaningful difference whatsoever or makes people more educated. does anyone really care or think all that much about the history of any building, monument, roadway sign named after someone historical or influential or in memoriam when they drive by and see it? i would venture to say in 99% of cases, no. not in today's society.

on top of that, if you think anyone on the left is going to see this for what you want them to see it as, given that trump is the one who made the change...that is probably borderline delusional at this point.

Nobody in particular. But Babylon and the woman are one and the same. The woman is dressed as royalty, and Babylon is dressed in wealth. Neither are wholesome figures, to say the least. The woman holds a golden cup full of abominable things and the filth of her immorality, and is identified by the title BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. Babylon's description goes on in detail about her wealth, culminating in her commercial activities that deal in the cargo of human slaves and human souls. Despite her evil, the people of the earth are sad to see her fall, for it spells the end of economic prosperity.

What I find remarkable about 17:16 is NOT that Babylon (the woman) rides on the back of the Beast (the devil), obviously implying a close alliance (religious, economic, governing - basically a world order), but that the beast HATES the woman, and has only been using her to deceive people. At first it is shocking, as even Saint John is "astonished" by what he is seeing. But it's really not astonishing at all, because the devil hates everyone, yourself included. Jesus himself told his disciples that when the devil speaks in lies, he is speaking his native tongue. Therefore, it is not surprising at all to see him deceiving people and using them, even when they have given everything to him.

When I see so many around us excusing the immorality of our leaders, regardless of political party, and even allowing them to co-opt the language and traditions of my faith, I am reminded of 17:9 - "this calls for a mind with wisdom." No, I do not mean the kind of insight that can answer all your questions about prophecy. I believe if we were supposed to know those exact answers, God would have revealed them. Even the disciples did not understand the prophecies about Jesus until after he died and rose. Rather, I mean the kind of wisdom described in I Cor. 2. In this spirit, there are some things I simply cannot follow.

Educated people do. People with an interest in history do. Locals who knew the people in question do. There's a road in Liberty County that makes me think of a great Aggie every time I see the sign.

There's nothing "subconscious" about it; the intention was overtly stated. And caring about victims of crime was not always a partisan issue. You should give that some thought.

You should hop on the Trump train, bro...I get it, it's hard to look in the mirror and realize you were wrong about damn near everything and have been duped by the likes or Joy Behar, Rachel Maddow, Cher and the Young Turks over the years..

It's crazy libs hate him so much. He's basically Bill Clinton but less of a politician. And the least war hawkish president of our lifetime. He's a populist who was anti Iraq war before it was cool. He's not a hard right winger at all and he has shown in interviews spanning the last 3-4 decades that he truly cares about this country being the greatest in the world. Now, he is showing us how trillions of our tax dollars have been wasted, funneled or remain unaccounted for, and this seems to piss off liberal leaders (and their useful idiots) more than anything to date. It's IN-SANE.

I would challenge you, or any other liberal male feminist, to actually watch his speech from the other night. Tune out the GOP applauding him...and definitely tune out the dem side, as they acted like insufferable, rude, hate fueled petulant freaks...but just listen to Trump and his message. And then tell me what is "extreme" about it.

I realize you almost certainly won't do it, because feminists have been conditioned to be universally repulsed by the mere image of the man, but I challenge you to do it. He's actually pretty damn funny. Yeah he throws out barbs, but against people who have been screaming that he is Hitler for the better part of a decade and have done everything in their power to ruin and sabotage him.

If it helps...in the off chance you do watch it...maybe close your eyes and imagine it is one of your heroes, like Hillary Clinton, or Obama (deported far more people than Trump btw), saying the exact same things.

The thread is political in nature. A prominent politician just ordered the place to be renamed after a girl who was brutally raped and murdered by viscious South American savages that the prior administration let in because they were hellbent on maintaining a harmful and destructive open borders policy. Try to keep up.
