They are terrible after games at Kyle Field.
Lol, we were actually at Disney three weeks ago (off peak season and not on a week where there was a big event, you'd be proud). Of course there's a lot more planning that goes into a trip like that vs a trip to the rodeo.WestHoustonAg79 said:BowSowy said:
Bunch of grumpy ass olds in here. Even though it's crowded, my kid still loves it and we always have a good time
Ding ding ding. Found the guy that will show up to Disney at peak crowd time and no plan.
While I don't judge you here (I've been working hard on this aspect) I don't understand how you wouldn't take 10 min of research to guide your family through a much easier win.
It's hard enough!

Got suite tix from a vendor but had the misfortune of being there Wednesday for community day. It was disgustingly packed

We've been season ticket holders for more than a decade. The Calf Scramble calves seem to be getting bigger and bigger every year. They should be 100lbs or less for this event. They're pushing 300lbs. One of these days a kid is really gonna get hurt bc of the size of the calves.

Lost power in middle of Journey!
Left NE Houton at 3 p.m. Parked for $25 on Old Spanish Trail and rode bus for 45 minutes, that I'm sure crossed Navigation at some point. Bought a $20 hamburger. Bought 2 beers for $31. Bought 2 Journey tickets for $214 in nosebleed, with $35 convenience fee per ticket. Walked through overpriced vendors for an hour. Bought plain $12 funnel cake, because who doesn't need a 3rd ass cheek? Bought a $5 water. Went into arena, saw fat kids chase cows, toddlers riding sheep, 7 dudes get curb-stomped by Elsie on a bender. Finally after $275 and 6 hours of traffic and germ warfare, got to see Journey sing 3 songs before being sent home due to a power failure. Need I mention that I was at RELIANT Stadium. Yeah, I expect they'll have it up and running in 3 weeks, once they clear cut everything from Cozumel to Winnipeg. Anyway, back to a bus line that made me yearn for a Soviet style toilet paper queue, another 30 minute bus ride that I'm pretty sure went through the set from Escape from New York, and an hour and a half ride home through wrecks, fires and domestic disputes on 59 and all of the side streets that my hopelessly overmatched Google maps tried to send me on. At one point, it asked me if I wanted to go to "white flag" mode, whatever that means. So yeah, after getting home at 1 a.m. after 10 hours and over $300 in costs, and NOT seeing Journey, please let me be done with this cluster. Houston does not deserve nice things, and it takes a true Houstonian to think the rodeo is one.

Fortunately my family all feels the same way so we game it hard.
Pro tip for kid day out there:
- Show up right when parking gates open.
- Be the first wave into NRG Center,
- no line for petting zoo, pony ride, and one other thing that usually has an outrageous line. Casually walk through the animal exhibits before the rush.
Then grab a beer and laugh at your buddies you see come in 45 min later and sitting in the petting zoo line for an hour while trying to juggle 3 toddlers. End at the carnival/food tents, kids start nap on the way home.
I'll never understand the types that enjoy just being in the crowd, like people that go out in the madness on Black Friday to compete with the masses.
I saw the long thread on r/houston about it, but haven't seen any videos yet.Boiling Denim said:

Some people over there were calling it the "Astroworld crowd."

But they overcome that by just turning it up so loud that the sound distorts and you can't actually hear anything but noise.AW96 said:94chem said:Bondag said:

So sorry. I can only imagine how frustrating that would be. We thankfully saw Journey with Def Leppard and Steve miller Band in August at Minute Maid so didn't feel the need to go again. We enjoyed that concert, but realized these ballparks have terrible acoustics for concerts and probably won't go again to one at a ballpark/ stadium if possible. Hope you guys get reimbursed for those tickets.

And HTF does Reliant not have back up power available outside of their normal life safety systems (like the Superbowl does)?

Getting tickets in the Chairman's Club was the best decision we made. The food and drinks are top notch and there's no lines. I recall having to stand in line for 20 minutes to get a beer in the general concourse.

we run a similar play. We live in the deep blue part of town so as soon as kids are up, we get dressed and walk to the metro station. Do all the pony/animal stuff before people show up, grab a beer, fried [insert insult to the deity of your choice] food for the kids, hit a few rides, and use the buy one-get one game on the carnival pack to win both kids an easy plushie on the beer pong game and our uber picks us up by lunchtime on La Concha at Greenbriar. Easy peasy.WestHoustonAg79 said:WestHoustonAg79 said:I HATE general population crowds more than the next guy. Yeah, now that it's Daikin Park, hopefully they address the AC issue since that's their sponsor's business.TJaggie14 said:bigjag19 said:

Went last night and it was nice that it was so crowded. Buddy brought his kids and he said there was no line for any of the rides.
I thought the concert was good (only knew 3 of his songs). I would def go see Charley Crockett again in a diff venue.
Idk if NRG is just a bad concert venue, or if it's just the rodeo and their equipment/sound system.
I was sitting with the lol poors in the 500 section and that AC was cranking! It was cold, which is better than the alternative. Enron Field should take some notes.
The sound system is quite nice to bad depending on where you sit. It should be no surprise that it is optimized for the more expensive seats.TJaggie14 said:bigjag19 said:
