No idea, it certainly has been delayed along with the swim lessons or whatever business is next to it. Considering the adjacent development, I expect it will be an extra "urban", Urban Air. I'd be fine with the city permanently closing the connection between Salford and Minimax like it was back in 2008.

Are you sure that Timbergrove pays for constables? The dues are voluntary and $40 per home in a 420 home neighborhood (east side) won't cover much.

I have heard that the Constables show up way faster than HPD, but HPD showed up quickly when a burglar set my alarm off & a neighbor called on my housewarming party.

Absolutely certain. It is a separate $310 fee. Participating residents get a green badge yard sign.


They send out a monthly activity report. The April report reflects 135 community checks/contacts during the month.

Our location in the neighborhood is on the southwest side near the roundabout and the new apartment/condo developments. We have easily seen a 3x increase year-over-year in vehicle and foot traffic on our street (not to mention the people flying down Minimax). But I never see a constable.

I'm confused how you could be the person who manages the contract, and have no contact for the contract.

Constables sure seem to be several steps down from HPD or County Sheriff in the way that they present themselves, walk talk etc. I had a conversation with one recently and was left doubting he had a three digit IQ. Friendly chat but it was a little odd to me that such a slow fellow had a pistol on his hip.

I had always assumed the entrance standards for them were much lower than the other two.

Kinda depends on the department. There are 8 constable precincts, each headed by an elected official, and they're not all the same.

Constables can also have reserve deputies who work a certain number of hours per year but aren't full time.

I'm in Maplewood 77096. It seems I can't go more than 20 minutes without seeing a Precinct 5 car patrolling around my neighborhood. I think it does a decent job of deterring crime in my immediate vicinity and also helps with speeding and running stop signs.

I live in Nottingham and agree that the Constable's are rip off. They sit in our cul de sac maybe half hour a month which I a lot more than the rest of the neighborhood gets. Most of the time they sit at the at the civic association. HPD always show up anytime there is an incident or false alarm call. The constables did come out quickly the one time we had homeless guy drinking leftover beer out of the recycle bins on the street though.

Come one....who among us has not.

Part of this could be if you call 911 the default for the operator is HPD. They may not know about the contract. Our constable says to call their dispatch first or you may not get a constable dispatched.

We have constables in our neighborhood. No complaints.

Just like the poster above said - you need to tell alarm company to call the constables and you also need to call them directly rather than 911 if appropriate. They had about a two minute response time to an issue a few months ago and we see them frequently in the neighborhood.
